The Witcher 4 may come in early 2027, while most of the other projects are still in the concept or pre-production stages.
CD Projekt RED has shared significant updates on its latest projects, including the recently-announced Witcher 4 sequel, The Witcher 1 Remake, Project Orion and Project Hadar, during their latest financial report presentation.
The Witcher 4 will not launch before the end of 2026
During the report, CD Projekt RED stated that while development on The Witcher 4 is making progress, the game will not be released before late 2026. "Even though we do not plan to release The Witcher 4 by the end of 2026, we are still driven by this financial goal,” the speaker said during the presentation.
This was reinforced in the Q&A session, where CD Projekt’s Chief Financial Officer, Piotr Nielubowicz, noted that they "are not going to announce the precise launch date for the game yet."
"All we can share now to provide more clarity for investors is that the game will not be released within the timeframe of the first target for the incentive programme, which runs until 31 December 2026," they added.
CD Projekt RED first confirmed Project Polaris (the project name Witcher 4 was under) alongside 4 other projects the company was working on in 2023, and later accidentally confirmed that the project was actually the Witcher 4.
The company then released The Witcher 4’s first cinematic trailer at the 2024 Game Awards showcasing Ciri, the new protagonist of the story. Since no gameplay trailer and release date was shared at the Game Awards in December 2024, some believe that the game will be released in 2026 or 2027 at the earliest, while many fans on Reddit think it will be released in 2028 or beyond.
Other CD Projekt RED projects in development
Additionally, CD Projekt RED’s remake of The Witcher 1, which was announced in October 2022 as part of the studio’s long-term development roadmap, remains in the concept stage. Due to dependencies in the production process concerning assets and technology, the studio has opted to temporarily align its development with ongoing work on The Witcher 4. As a result, a small team from developer Fool’s Theory is currently assisting The Witcher 4 team to establish essential assets, tools, and pipelines, ensuring a more efficient workflow for The Witcher remake once full production begins.
CD Projekt RED also has other projects in the pipeline, including Project Orion, the upcoming Cyberpunk game. It was confirmed to be nearing the end of its concept phase and will enter pre-production in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, other projects, including an original IP known as Project Hadar is at a stage where the studio needs to refine its core vision and gameplay prototypes.
