Sticky notes are multiplying in this new trailer for FBC: Firebreak.
Remedy Entertainment showed up at this week’s Future Games Show presentation with a new look at its next game: a multiplayer spin-off of Control titled FBC: Firebreak. The game puts players in the shoes of first responders in the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), as rampant mayhem takes place within its borders due to relentless supernatural forces.
Here’s the new gameplay trailer:
FBC: Firebreak has players fend off hordes of… sticky notes?
Remedy’s follow-up to Alan Wake 2 is a return to the world of Control – but not with a sequel. FBC: Firebreak is a three-player co-op first-person shooter set in the Federal Bureau of Control, which is in the midst of falling apart due to bizarre supernatural forces. The FBC’s first-response unit is tasked with putting an end to these threats.
According to Remedy, the game features several replayable missions called “Jobs,” each of which come with a variety of unique challenges, objectives, and environments to test the player team’s capabilities. Before choosing a job, players can pick from a Crisis Kit. These are essentially ability kits that supply the player – known as a Firebreaker – with different weapons, tools and ability augments.
These Crisis Kits are:
- Jump Kit - Focused on electricity-based abilities, excelling in field control and mobility.
- Fix Kit - A heavy-hitting kit built around impact-based attacks, including a massive wrench.
- Splash Kit - A water-based kit specializing in manipulating battlefield conditions and supporting teammates.
The trailer above focuses on a Job called Paper Chase, which sees an outbreak of evil sticky notes occur in the Oldest House’s Executive Sector. Control players might remember a room filled with mysterious sticky notes in the Oldest House. Well, now we know what happens when those sticky notes get out of control. Pun intended.
These sticky notes not only latch onto players to reduce their visibility, but seem to be able to possess players if they’re not countered in time. Throughout this Job, players will push through three escalating zones, culminating in a massive boss fight. FBC: Firebreak will be a low-stakes live-service game, meaning that there won’t be any dailies or limited-time “rotations” for players to tick off. All future updates and content, including new Jobs, will be free. However, microtransactions will be included in the form of cosmetics.
FBC: Firebreak will launch in Summer 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
