The Pyro Archon Mavuika is finally joining Genshin Impact's roster as a playable character!
Genshin Impact’s upcoming version 5.3 is already setting itself up to be a very exciting update, with Genshin Impact finally revealing the Pyro Archon Mavuika as its next playable character.
Mavuika, or Haborym, is the first and only human Archon in Teyvat’s current roster of gods to have risen into power thanks to Natlan’s customs, so she isn’t immortal like Venti (Barbatos), Zhongli (Morax), the Raiden Shogun (Beelzebul), or the late Focalors. However, that doesn’t mean she is weaker or less stellar than any of her godly counterparts.
Natlan’s Archon Quests have revealed that, similar to the previous Hydro Archon’s vessel Furina, Mavuika has been orchestrating a plan to save her nation from the threats of the Abyss 500 years in the making.
Mavuika, in truth, ascended as the Pyro Archon way before the current timeline of Genshin Impact, serving as Natlan’s god during the time of the Khaen’rian Cataclysm, which also marked the beginning invasion of the Abyss. Out of all the nations during that time, it was Natlan that became the brunt of the Abyss’s efforts of domination, with its efforts only having been thwarted due to the collective effort of Mavuika and her 6 chosen heroes.
Although Natlan was safe for the time being, Mavuika knew that the Abyss would resurface once again in the future to destroy her nation. Thus, she gave up her life to the Sacred Flame to be revived when the time was right, made possible by her Ancient Name “Kiongozi." We’ve caught a glimpse of just exactly how powerful Mavuika can be. She stood toe to toe with the strongest Fatui Harbinger Capitano, and had the capability to smash through both the Night Realm and the Sky of Teyvat.
As such, we can infer that Mavuika may have a more DPS-focused kit, although we can’t forget that all the Archons Genshin Impact has made playable so far are designed to have support capabilities. Mavuika will obviously wield the Pyro Element, and as previous quests have featured, will have the Claymore as her choice of weapon. She may also ride an awesome motorcycle, as her character art suggests!
Genshin Impact Version 5.2 dropped on November 20 with Chasca and Lyney headlining the first half banner runs, as well as additional content with a new map expansion, a new boss, and an Archon Quest Interlude. Genshin Impact's Version 5.3 update will most likely drop in early January 2025.
