Pokemon TCG Pocket announces upcoming booster packs, card trading, and other major features

Good news for those with growing collections — more types of cards are on the way!

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket (Pokémon TCG Pocket) is on a roll, with 30 million downloads in just nine days and less than two weeks later, the devs shared some valuable updates incoming.

The update was posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday (14 November), outlining a roadmap filled with new content and features for players to look forward to):

New Booster Packs and in-game events

Most players have collected more than 500 cards since the game's launch, with many nearly completing the slots on the Card Database. The good news is Pokémon TCG Pocket will be adding more booster packs toward the end of the year, according to the announcement. This should be especially exciting for players who enjoy opening multiple packs daily to collect rare and powerful cards.

In addition, the development team has confirmed plans for several in-game events. These will include daily packs and limited-time rewards designed to keep players engaged. In that regard, some players are hoping to have another event similar to the ongoing Lapras Ex Drop Event that gives them a rare opportunity to collect cards outside the existing booster packs.

Card Trading feature to be added in 2025

One of the most anticipated features is Card Trading, and Pokémon TCG Pocket will be bringing it to players in early 2025. While the details are under wraps, devs shared that a selection of “certain cards” can be traded by then, with plans to expand this pool over time.

The contents of the upcoming booster packs remain unknown but the trading feature will surely enhance community interaction and engagement, as card trading is one of the most prominent features of any TCG.

With these upcoming features rolling in faster than expected, Pokémon TCG Pocket players will have many things to look forward to in the game. Which booster packs do you want to see next?
