Team Liquid claimed their second tournament victory of the year in PGL Wallachia Season 4, adding to their Season 3 title from March.
Reigning The International (TI) champions Team Liquid claimed their second straight PGL Wallachia championship after they outlasted
PARIVISION, 3-2, in the best-of-five grand finals of PGL Wallachia Season 4 on Monday (28 April).
With their victory, Liquid claimed the grand prize of US$300,000 out of the tournament's US$1 million prize pool, as well as their second title this year following their win at PGL Wallachia Season 3 in March. Meanwhile, PARIVISION settled for second place and US$175,000 in consolation. This marks their fourth Top 3 finish in a Tier 1 tournament this year, which includes their victory at ESL One Raleigh 2025 earlier this month.
Liquid defeat PARIVISION to win second straight PGL Wallachia title
Both PGL Wallachia Season 4 grand finalists started their respective tournament campaigns strong in the Swiss-format Group Stage. PARIVISION didn't drop a single game against AVULUS,
Edge, and
Team Falcons en route to the Playoffs while Liquid took four rounds to advance, winning against
Nigma Galaxy,
Xtreme Gaming, and
Team Tidebound against a round two loss to Falcons.
In the Playoffs, Liquid took down Tundra Esports in three games at the upper bracket quarterfinals before sweeping
Team Spirit in the upper bracket semifinals to advance to the upper bracket finals. Meanwhile, PARIVISION swept Tidebound and earned a 2-1 victory over
Aurora Gaming after the latter forfeited the deciding game of the series due to a bug.
That set up the first showdown between Liquid and PARIVISION of the tournament in the upper bracket finals, where PARIVISION emerged victorious after three games to become the first team in the grand finals. The reigning TI champions bounced back by sweeping Tundra in their rematch at the lower bracket finals, earning the right to challenge PARIVISION once again for the PGL Wallachia Season 4 championship.
Liquid started the grand finals strong and looked like they could sweep the grand finals, only for PARIVISION to win games three and four back-to-back to threaten a reverse sweep. The deciding game five came down to the wire and lasted 72 minutes, with Liquid emerging victorious to secure their second straight PGL Wallachia title.
Game one saw Liquid enter the series with all guns blazing behind Micke “miCKe” Vu's carry Nature's Prophet, who finished with 13 kills and 14 assists on two deaths, as the team overcame an early deficit to take the win after 37 minutes of action.
Jonáš “SabeRLighT-” Volek on Dark Seer also pitched in with six kills and a game-high 19 assists against five deaths to help pace the team's 31-26 kill lead.
The second game followed a similar script to the series opener, with Liquid once again overcoming an early PARIVISION to take the win after 43 minutes. MiCKE led the way for his team once again, this time on Gyrocopter, and finished with 10 kills and 15 assists on five deaths to help Liquid take a commanding 2-0 series lead.
With their backs against the wall in game three, PARIVISION roared their way back into the series with a dominant 35-minute win. Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov on Templar Assassin sparked the comeback for PARIVISION with a perfect 16-kill, six-assist performance out of his team's 33-14 kill lead in game three.
PARIVISION carried their momentum into game four, where they stomped Liquid to the tune of a 29-9 kill lead in 41 minutes. Satanic on a carry Nature's Prophet and Volodymyr “No[o]ne” Minenko on Storm Spirit led the way with 10 kills apiece and a combined 24 assists, with No[o]ne only having two deaths while Satanic finished with another deathless performance.
With the PGL Wallachia Season 4 championship on the line in the deciding game five, both teams went blow-for-blow and traded the lead well into the late game. However, Michał “Nisha” Jankowski's nigh-unstoppable Timbersaw proved to be the difference-maker, as Liquid outlasted PARIVISION after a 72-minute rollercoaster to secure the hard-fought 3-2 series victory. Nisha closed out the grand finals with a series-high 22 kills and 14 assists on just two deaths.
