Blizzard Entertainment is going big to celebrate Warcraft’s 30th anniversary celebrations. In its Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct held earlier today, the developer announced remastered versions of Warcraft 1 and 2, featuring quality-of-life gameplay improvements, improved visuals and UI and UX overhauls. Warcraft 2 Remastered will even retain the original game’s multiplayer functionality, with all legacy custom maps included at launch.

Players can pick up Warcraft Remastered, Warcraft 2 Remastered, and Warcraft 3: Reforged in a new Battle Chest bundle:

Warcraft 1 and 2 remasters officially announced with all-new improvements

Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced – and subsequently released – remasters of Warcraft (1994) and Warcraft 2 (1995) as part of its big Warcraft 30th anniversary celebrations. This anniversary celebrates the release of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, a classic RTS game that launched a massive franchise in the years following its release.

In a blog post, Blizzard confirmed that these remasters would feature both games’ original graphics and remastered graphics, allowing players to switch between the two in real time. Warcraft 1 has also received modernised controls including a right-click move, band box select, and faster game speed.

Both Warcraft 1 and 2 Remastered will feature UI and UX improvements, including tooltips and health bars, a mission select screen, and increased unit selection. Most notably, Warcraft 2 Remastered will retain the original game’s multiplayer functionality, with all legacy custom maps compatible and fully playable upon release.

That’s not all, though. Warcraft 3: Reforged, Blizzard’s infamous remaster of the classic Warcraft RTS, is also getting a Patch 3.0 featuring overhauls to environments, lighting, and the user interface. All classic Warcraft 3 assets will also now be available in HD, with players able to mix and match these assets to their preference. More quality-of-life improvements are also coming in this update, like in-game hotkey customization, an updated ladder, and more.

A Battle Chest bundle is available with all three games priced at $39.99, but you can also pick up Warcraft 1 Remastered for $9.99 or Warcraft 2 Remastered for $14.99 individually on the Battle.net store.
