The creators of PUBG: Battlegrounds have unveiled a new top-down PvP shooter.

Developer PUBG Studios and publisher Krafton, the makers of PUBG: Battlegrounds, have unveiled a brand-new 5v5 PvP shooter played from a top-down perspective. The game is titled Project ARC and described as “a realistic and fast-paced top-down shooting experience inspired by PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS” with “skill-based, thrilling and realistic gunfights” using weapons like “assault rifles, submachine guns, shotguns, long-range weapons like sniper rifles and DMR, pistols, grenade launchers, and more.”

PUBG Studios unveils new PvP shooter Project ARC

PUBG Studios has announced an all-new multiplayer shooter called Project ARC, which is said to be inspired by PUBG: Battlegrounds. Its aesthetic is markedly different however, as the game is played from a top-down perspective emphasising “real-time line of sight shared with your teammates.” Line of sight is generally important in this game, as the game’s core gameplay loop involves “disrupting the enemy’s line of sight, securing your view quickly, and attacking before the enemy notices you.”

Most combat encounters will go down in tight, close-quarter environments. Player objectives will be otherwise quite simple: one team will hack into a hidden Crypt by installing a Decrypter, and using explosive weapons to reach that Crypt throughout a match. The other team will have to block enemies from reaching the Crypt and installing the Decrypter at all costs.

The game’s steam page reads: “When the Decrypter is activated, the crypt will change from blue to red, signalling that it has been hacked. The Crypt is used to control the Blue Chip. What could happen if it gets compromised?” Characters in Project ARC are said to have their own “preferred weapons and distinctive gadgets” ranging from “the Mk14, AWM, and P90” to gadgets like “Blue Zone grenades, recon drones, grenade launchers, and proximity explosives.”

Project ARC does not have a release date yet.
