Honkai: Star Rail has revealed that our beloved Foxian Tingyun is still alive and will make her return as the 5-star character ‘Fugue’ in version 2.7.
Players first met Tingyun as a 4-star character way back in version 1.0 during the Xianzhou Luofu Trailblaze Missions. As an Amicassador of the Sky-Faring Commission under the Whistling Flames Guild, Tingyun served as the Astral Express Crew’s guide in the Luofu as they tried to resolve the Stellaron Crisis in the worldship.
However, it was later revealed that the Tingyun we met was actually the Lord Ravager Phantylia using her identity as a disguise. When this deception was revealed, we all saw “Tingyun” get her neck snapped and her body disappear, leading everyone to assume that our beloved Foxian was dead. We even held a funeral ceremony for her with Yukong.
But in the version 2.5 Trailblaze Continuance Missions, it was revealed that the real Tingyun was found by Ruan Mei in the wreckage of a Whistling Flames ship – likely after Phantylia attacked her and stole her identity.
With Ruan Mei’s help, Tingyun seems to have recovered from the Lord Ravager’s attack but has undergone some changes. Most noticeable is the fact that Tingyun now has multiple pink tails, perhaps the result of some experiment Ruan Mei was forced to perform to revive her.
Tingyun’s 5-star version now also goes by the name ‘Fugue’ (pronounced /fyo͞oɡ/), which refers to a state when someone loses awareness of their identity. Tingyun's 5-star Fugue form also differs from her original 4-star Lightning Harmony version in that she now wields the Fire element and follows the Path of Nihility.
With Tingyun now revealed to be returning, it also opens up so many questions about what happened. Why did Phantylia attack her? Why did Ruan Mei save her? Why does she have multiple tails now? Is she still the same Tingyun before she was attacked? We can’t wait for all our questions to be answered when Tingyun finally returns as a 5-star character in Honkai: Star Rail version 2.7!
Tingyun’s Fugue form will be the second 5-star character being released in Honkai: Star Rail version 2.7, with Sunday being the first to be revealed. Honkai: Star Rail version 2.7 is expected to be released some time in December.
