Natlan is finally coming! The version 5.0 preview livestream showcased what we can expect from Natlan, the new characters, and a massive system update.
Genshin Impact version 5.0 “Flowers Resplendent on the Sun-Scorched Sojourn” will finally be released on 28 August and will feature a major expansion that will finally allow players to explore the Nation of Pyro: Natlan!

Mualani, Kinich, and Kachina debut as first playable Natlan characters
There are three new characters coming in version 5.0 and they will be the first set of playable characters who hail from Natlan.
Mualani, who is a 5-star Hydro catalyst user, will run alongside a rerun for Kaedehara Kazuha alongside the debut of Kachina, a 4-star Geo polearm user, for the first half of the version. On the other hand, Kinich, a 5-star Dendro claymore user, will run in the second half with a rerun for the Raiden Shogun.
Mualani

Mualani is a Hydro on-field DPS from the People of the Springs. Her kit relies on her Elemental Skill, which doubles as an exploration tool that allows her to surf on land, water, and liquid Phlogiston thanks to her Sharky surfboard. Mualani’s attacks will also be converted to Sharky’s powerful bites when her skill is active
Kinich

Kinich is a Dendro DPS who hails from the Scions of the Canopy and is a bonafide Saurian hunter. Much like Mualani, Kinich relies on his skill, which allows him to deploy grappling hooks to shoot himself up into the air, for both damage and exploration. His Saurian familiar, Ajaw, also aids him in battle by dealing AoE Dendro DMG with Kinich’s burst.
Kachina

Kachina is a Geo unit from Children of the echoes who can scale mountains and cliffs thanks to her Turbo Twirly skill. She can also unleash ground-slam attacks that deal AoE Geo DMG.
Besides being a summonable character in the first half banners, Kachina will also be made available for free after completing the Natlan Archon quest.

Natlan will feature a sprawling map full of new flora and fauna, as well as the mysterious Phlogiston – a unique resource in which the power of Pyro can be found. Phlogiston has become an integral part of warfare in Natlan, as its people can harness this power to elevate movement and strength.
Besides gaining a power boost from Phlogiston, the people of Natlan have also harnessed the power of dragons, called Saurians. The Saurians are different from other dragons as they have evolved through the years and are generally domesticated. There are three types of Saurians: the Tepetlisaurus, the Yumkasaurus, and the Koholasaurus. The Saurians will aid their partners in combat, becoming valuable sidekicks.
In the trailer, it is revealed that Natlan has been battling with the Abyss for hundreds of years, allowing it to earn the moniker as the “nation of war”. It seems the centuries of warfare has come to a head with the looming threat of the Abyss becoming even more imminent, and may even cause the destruction of the nation.
4th anniversary rewards
Genshin Impact is entering its 4th year, and the anniversary rewards are truly something to look forward to!
- Daily log-in event - players will receive up to 10 intertwined fates,
- In-game mails - as thanks for your support, Genshin Impact will send 1600 primogems and two exclusive gadgets “Firstborn Firesprite” and “Kaboom Box” to your in-game mail,
- A free standard 5-star of your choice in all anniversaries moving forward
- And a double bonus reset on Crystal packs!
Major system updates, more rewards
However, the best part of version 5.0 will be the major system updates and QOL changes.
- You can visit Natlan in early/mid-game as long as you have completed all of Mondstadt’s Archon Quests and have reached AR 19,
- You can partake in Natlan’s Archon Quest if you have completed all of the Liyue Archon Quests and have reached AR 28,
- You can receive a limited-time bonus from completing the Natlan Archon Quest, which amounts to 500 Primogems,
- Returnee Travellers will receive more rewards thanks to the revamped Stellar Reunion event, which may give you up to 10 or more Intertwined Fates,
- Artifact hunting will now be significantly easier due to a new tool called “Sanctifying Elixir”, which will allow you to redeem artifacts with 1 designated main stat ad 2 designated substats. Additionally, salvaging Artifacts will return you enhancement materials,
- Wishing on the limited character banners will be kinder to those who have bad gacha luck; the new mechanism “Capturing Radiance” has a rate of appearing during a 50/50, triggering this mechanism will guarantee you the event-exclusive character. - Say goodbye to spending all your money on the weapon banner; the maximum amount of Fate Points needed to guarantee you getting your 5-star weapon of choice has now been reduced from 2 to 1,
- World Level 9 will finally be introduced in version 5.0; after reaching AR 58 you can complete an Ascension Quest and increase your World Level to face tougher battles with even more rewards,
- And finally, say goodbye to Alt+Tab-ing when hunting for local specialties to level up your characters, as you can now pinpoint the location range of regional specialties on the in-game map!
Genshin Impact is currently in the second half of version 4.8, with Emilie and Yelan currently in the active banners. Version 5.0 will be made available on the 28th of August.
