It's time to go ballistic.
Amidst the many issues and predicaments that continue to plague the battle royale FPS game that is Apex Legends, its developers have still found time to release new information regarding its upcoming latest update, Season 17: Arsenal alongside its new character, Ballistic. This includes a new 'Stories from the Outlands' short to explain more about Ballistic and his backstory.
Aside from more new details about the latest legend to join the foray, the website also had updates regarding the state of the game, especially when it came to one of its oldest maps, Worlds Edge. Having been in the map pool since its debut in season three, the upcoming season will feature new updates on the map, stating "Time heals all wounds, but a little help can go a long way."
While there are no immediate details as to what the updates could be, this will be the third time Worlds Edge has gone through a change with the first and second coming in seasons six and 10. Aside from the updates to Worlds Edge, Respawn Entertainment will also be evolving the firing range, bringing in some major expansions with plenty of new updates along the way.
And if completing daily and weekly challenges isn't enough to get you to finish the battle pass and earn some sweet gear, Respawn will be upping the ante with weapon mastery challenges. These will most likely be gun-specific challenges one must complete in order to earn specific rewards based on your favourite weapon.
Lastly, ranked gameplay will be getting an update, which is very much needed given the current state of the competitive scene in Apex Legends. For quite some time now, plenty of professional Apex players alongside a healthy competitive ecosystem have been calling for Respawn to switch up the ranked system. With plenty of Predator-ranked players facing up against Diamond and Platinum players in ranked lobbies becoming the norm, something must be done to the current ranked system.
The game itself is currently in a sorry situation with plenty of issues that are holding it back from being one of the best competitive battle royales. From audio issues that relay no feedback in terms of footsteps and gunshots to no visible bullet tracers alongside various bugs and exploits, one way to fix the game is to give it a thorough cleanse of all its issues before introducing new legends and weapons that will just break the game even further.
Expect more details regarding Season 17: Arsenal as we head closer towards the end date for the current season. Stay tuned as we will keep you updated on the latest news regarding Apex Legends!
