Genshin Impact 5.0: How to use the Artifact Transmuter to get the perfect artifact

Source: HoYoverse

The Artifact Transmuter is a new tool designed for Travelers to craft custom artifacts.

Everybody who plays Genshin Impact knows that one of the most important (and taxing!) things to do is finding that perfect artifact piece to take your character to the next level. Luckily for us players, HoYoverse has finally addressed this struggle with the release of version 5.0 by giving us an item that we can use to get that perfect piece we’re looking for: the Artifact Transmuter.

How does it work?

The Artifact Transmuter is a gadget that requires a Sanctifying Elixir to create a custom artifact with the set, piece, and stat affixes of their choice. If you're still stuck in the artifact mines trying to get that Crit Rate circlet with the perfect Crit DMG, ATK, and Energy Recharge substats, then this should help you finally end your suffering.

The Sanctifying Elixir is a new material that only works with the Artifact Transmuter, and can be received through salvaging 5-star artifacts that are level 4 and above. You must reach 100 extraction progress, which requires at least 5 level 20 artifacts, to receive 1 Sanctifying Elixir. You can also only get 1 Sanctifying Elixir per patch, which lasts 42 days.

Each artifact piece requires a set amount of Sanctifying Elixirs to be created, that being:

Flower1 Sanctifying Elixir
Plume1 Sanctifying Elixir
Sands2 Sanctifying Elixir
Goblet4 Sanctifying Elixir
Circlet3 Sanctifying Elixir

The timeline for creating a full customised Artifact set per piece would be:

  • Flower: 42 days (1 patch)
  • Plume: 42 days  (1 patch)
  • Sands: 84 days (2 patches)
  • Goblet: 168 days (4 patches)
  • Circlet: 126 days (3 patches)

Which means it will take you a whopping 462 days or 11 patches to get that perfect set of artifacts. Of course, this assumes that you didn’t unlock the Gnostic Hymn battle pass, have yet to receive a Sanctifying Elixir through Natlan Exploration, or don't have enough Pyro Sigils to unlock rewards from the Tablet of Tona (Natlan’s version of Fontaine’s Fountain of Lucine). Even so, it will still take you a long time to kit yourself out with your custom artifact pieces.

Custom-make your ideal artifact piece

To create your custom artifact, you must first undergo the process of Artifact Definition – wherein you must choose your preferred set, piece, main affix (or main stat), and 2 minor affixes (sub stat).

The main affix  list depends on what type of artifact piece you’re wanting to produce, that being:

  • Flower - HP only
  • Plume- ATK only
  • Sands- ATK%, DEF%, HP%, Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge,
  • Goblet - ATK%, DEF%, HP%, Elemental Mastery, Elemental DMG Bonus%
  • Circlet: ATK%, DEF%, HP%, Elemental Mastery, Crit Rate, Crit DMG.

The Minor Affixes will include: ATK, ATK%, Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge, DEF, DEF%, HP, HP%, Crit Rate, and Crit DMG.

Where and how to get

The Artifact Transmuter can be obtained through the Adventurer’s Handbook, Chapter 4 Embattle screen by completing the task of owning 25 5-start artifacts. After which, you will permanently find the Artifact Transmuter in the Gadgets menu.
