Here’s a quick roundup of all the big trailers you missed during 2024’s Summer Game Fest showcase.
Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest Live has returned this year for another packed showcase of new and upcoming games from developers both big and small. While this year’s showcase wasn’t quite as eventful as years past, we did get a handful of fun surprises. From PlayStation’s new Lego Horizon game to Valorant on consoles, here are all the biggest announcements from Summer Game Fest Live 2024:
Lego Horizon Adventures (2024)
PlayStation and Lego are making this spin-off of Guerrilla Games' Horizon franchise, featuring returning protagonist Aloy in a brand-new sci-fi adventure. Machines like Thunderjaws and Watchers will return to make your life difficult, but you'll also be able to play with a friend in either local or online co-op multiplayer.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions (September 3)
While this Harry Potter game isn't exactly Hogwarts Legacy, it does offer something that the game missed out on: Quidditch. The multiplayer Quidditch game will let you play Quidditch against others in PvP matches this September.
Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 (2025)
Firaxis Games is returning to develop the next entry in the turn-based strategy franchise Civilization. We'll get a better look at the game during a gameplay showcase hosted by 2K Games this August.
Street Fighter 6 Year 2 DLC fighters (2024-2025)
Street Fighter 6's second year of DLC includes a guest fighter! Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury will join the fighting roster this fall, but that's not all. M. Bison also arrives this summer, Mai Shiranui will launch in the winter of 2025 and Elena will arrive in the spring of 2025.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero (October 11)
The fighting game franchise Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi returns at long last with a sequel this year. Many returning characters from past titles will fill out the playable roster, across their multiple forms from various Dragon Ball media.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (Early 2025)
It's comeback time for Terry Bogard. Not only is he joining Street Fighter 6's roster this year, but he'll also feature in a new Fatal Fury game next year. This trailer confirms B. Jenet and Vox Reaper as playable fighters.
Monster Hunter Wilds (2025)
We now have a new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, the first open-world entry in Capcom's iconic action-adventure game franchise. We'll get another look at how the game is shaping up during Gamescom Opening Night Live.
Metaphor: ReFantazio (October 11)
Atlus is taking its time with Persona 6, so in the absence of news on that sequel, fans might want to check out the studio's other game Metaphor: ReFantazio this year instead. This fantasy game also focuses on building relationships with the player's companions, and it's combat features a combination of turn-based and real-time action.
Blumhouse Games reveals six new games
The horror movie production company Blumhouse has set up a new game publishing arm called Blumhouse Games, and we now have an early look at six new games it has coming up. These games are Crisol Theater of Idols, Grave Seasons, Sleep Awake, Fear the Spotlight, The Simulation, and Project C. Interestingly, Project C boasts the involvement of Sam Barlow (Immortality) and Brandon Cronenberg (Infinity Pool).
Alan Wake 2: Night Springs DLC (June 8)
Remedy Games' first DLC expansion Night Springs adds three 'what-if' playable scenarios to Alan Wake 2 featuring a gun-toting waitress, an actor played by Shawn Ashmore and Jesse Faden from Control! We weren't expecting a Control crossover this quickly, but we'll definitely take it. This expansion launches just a day after Summer Game Fest, so you might already be able to play it. Check your platform of choice!
Slitterhead (November 8)
Ex-developers from Silent Hill and Siren have come together to make this new horror game: Slitterhead. This new trailer showcases some pretty gnarly body horror, with players being able to use human blood to form weapons like claws and machine guns to fight monsters in spooky urban environments.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind (Late 2024)
We weren’t expecting a new Power Rangers game to blow us away during this presentation, but here we are! This retro throwback to classic arcade games combines rail shooters and beat-’em-ups for a unique homage to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Also, time travel! A recipe for success if we’ve ever seen one.
Wanderstop (TBA)
Annapurna Interactive is publishing this cosy game developed by Ivy Road, with the involvement of the creators of The Stanley Parable and Gone Home. Wanderstop puts you in the shoes of Alta, a warrior who manages a tea shop in a magical forest and tends to customers who happen to be passing through - reluctantly. Very reluctantly.

Sega is remastering Sonic Generations, but with a twist: the game now features Shadow the Hedgehog, ahead of his live-action debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 later this year.
Valorant comes to consoles (2024)
The widely popular tactical shooter Valorant is finally coming to consoles - potentially allowing for a wider player base than Counter-Strike 2, if anyone's still pitting the two games against each other. Riot Games’ shooter will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later in 2024, starting with a limited beta test on June 14. There will be no cross-play between consoles and PC.
Hyper Light Breaker (Summer 2024 early access)
Hyper Light Drifter is getting a radically different sequel. Heart Machine’s Hyper Light Breaker is a procedurally generated open-world roguelike game with 3D gameplay, coming to Steam in early access this year.
Neva (2024)
Here’s a new look at Gris developer Nomada Studios’ gorgeous-looking next game, Neva. Neva follows a young woman named Alba, who bonds with a wolf cub after both suffering a traumatic encounter with sinister forces. The duo will journey through a slowly-decaying post-apocalyptic world together.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess (July 19)
