Natus Vincere Junior (NAVI Jr) claimed ultimate victory in the Dota 2 Champion of Champions (CCT) Series 6 after an incredible lower bracket run, capped off with a five-game thriller against Night Pulse in the grand finals on Saturday (February 1).

With their victory, NAVI Jr will be taking home $30,000 in winnings out of the tournament's $50,000 prize pool. This also marks their first championship in the Dota 2 CCT Series after three previous attempts in Series 3, 4, and 5 last year. Meanwhile, Night Pulse settle for second place and $10,000 in consolation.

NAVI Jr were one of two teams who received a direct invite into the CCT Series 6 Playoffs. On the other hand, Night Pulse first had to survive the 10-team Group Stage, finishing as the third seed of Group A with a 7-4 record.

The two grand finalists first met in the upper bracket quarterfinals of the Playoffs, where Night Pulse emerged victorious in a 2-0 sweep. They then scored another sweep over Jigglin in the upper bracket semifinals, and a 2-1 victory over Passion UA in the upper bracket finals to become the first team in the CCT Series 6 grand finals.

After getting dropped to the lower bracket early, NAVI Jr flipped the switch and scored back-to-back 2-0 sweeps over Zero Tenacity and MOUZ in the first two rounds, before scoring a 2-1 reverse sweep over Jigglin in the lower bracket semifinals. NAVI Jr then defeated Passion UA in three games at the lower bracket finals to earn a rematch with Night Pulse for the CCT Series 6 championship.

Night Pulse drew first blood in the grand finals with a hard-fought 44-minute win in game one behind Kiyalbek “Kami” Tayirov's Bloodseeker, who finished with eight kills and 10 assists on four deaths.

NAVI Jr struck back in game two, taking the lead by the mid game and never looking back to tie up the series after 46 minutes of action. Yurii “pma” Prots led the way on his offlane Pangolier, recording a game-high 11 kills to go with 13 assists on three deaths. Artem “Niku” Bachkur then put on a show in game three, where he had a perfect 20-kill, 11-assist performance on his mid Timbersaw, as NAVI Jr routed Night Pulse in 32 minutes to take a commanding 2-1 series lead.

However, Night Pulse answered with a stomp of their own in a 29-minute game four, with Kami also having a clean 13 kills on Morphling to help his team force the grand finals to a deciding fifth game.

With the CCT Series 6 championship on the line in game five, NAVI Jr rolled out a powerful core trio featuring a carry Dragon Knight for Taras “gotthejuice” Linnikov, Invoker for Niku, and Primal Beast for pma. After a closely-contested laning stage, NAVI Jr's more powerful teamfight lineup allowed them to take a commanding lead. Despite Night Pulse's best efforts to mount a comeback, NAVI Jr closed out the 3-2 grand finals victory in just under 46 minutes of action, and with a 29-16 kill lead.

Gotthejuice led the way for NAVI Jr in the closeout game with nine kills and 12 assists on just one death. Pma added eight kills and 15 assists against four deaths, while Niku had five kills and 14 assists on three deaths.
