Entity is the first Western European team to qualify for The International 2024

Entity took down Tundra Esports in the Western European qualifiers for The International 2024 to claim one of the two tickets to Denmark.

While drama and upsets kept unravelling in the WEU qualifiers, Entity kept their heads straight and delivered when it mattered the most. They didn’t have a positive win record over Tundra Esports in the past few months at various competitions, but that changed a month ago when Filipe Astini became Entity’s new coach.

Just last month Entity took down Tundra twice in the group stage of FISSURE Universe: Episode 2. They ended up winning that tournament, dropping just one game through both payoff and group stages. That was perhaps the biggest hint that Entity found their stride again. A week after that, they also claimed one of the two tickets for the WEU region to Riyadh Masters 2024.

Entity made it to the TI13 qualifiers finals from the upper bracket, along with Tundra Esports. They started the final battle with a hard-fought victory in game one. Their draft came together past the 35 minute when they finally had solutions for Tundra’s carry Bristleback to make a comeback from an 8K gold deficit.

In game two, however, they were completely outpaced by Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen on a mid Alchemist, who dictated the tempo from start to finish.

For game three, Entity brought one of Alimzhan "watson" Islambekov signature hero, Morphling, as Tundra were first picking Storm Spirit for Topson, a hero on which he was undefeated up to that point in the qualifiers.

While Topson had three wins on Storm up to the grand finals, Entity hadn’t been drafting Morphling at all until the last game of the grand finals. Pocket strategy or not, they saved it for their very last pick and watson went 11/0/5 with it to carry his team to Copenhagen, Denmark at The International 2024.

Tundra might be defeated today, but it’s not all lost for them. They can make a full comeback tomorrow, June 23 in the lower bracket finals and claim the final slot to TI13. Their adversaries will be decided in the Natus Vincere JuniorvsPSG Quest lower bracket semifinal.
