Champions of Champions Tour expands into Dota 2 starting Monday, June 24th

Premier online esports tournament organizer, The Champions of Champions Tour (CCT) makes its foray into Dota 2 with a circuit worth $400,000.

The CCT brand debuted in 2022 as a new Counter-Strike tournament series. After a positive reception, CCT Season 2 boasted a $1,500,000 prize pool.

Now the organization will expand into Dota 2 with $400,000 up for grabs in the first season. 

 “Dota has a special place in many hearts at GRID and that shows in our long history of Dota support through GRID’s data infrastructure and the Esports Solutions team. We’re excited to integrate this iconic title into our own premier tournament brand this summer."

The first event of the season will begin as early as Monday, June 24th, and conclude on July 3rd. The following tournament dates will be announced in the future.

Each tournament will feature 12 invited teams and a $50,000 prize pool. With the action starting on Monday, teams will be announced very soon. 

CCT Format 

CCT Phase 1 - Groups:

  • Two groups of five teams
  • Round-Robin
  • Best-of-three matches
  • Top three teams per group progress to Playoffs

CCT Phase 2 - Playoffs:

  • Eight teams: 
    • Top six from Groups 
    • Two direct invites
  • Double-Elimination Bracket
  • Best-of-three matches
  • Best-of-five Grand Finals

CCT Prize pool breakdown:

  • First place: $30,000 USD
  • Second place: $10,000 USD
  • Third place: $7,500 USD
  • Fourth place: $2,500 USD

CCT and GRID

This isn’t the first time CCT commissioner, Berlin-based esports data platform GRID, has organized Dota 2 tournaments. GRID’s Esports Solutions division has managed operations on the HomeSweetHome CS and Dota 2 tournament series since 2020, as well as Pinnacle Cup from 2021-2023.

GRID has a long history of partnerships within the Dota 2 esports ecosystem, providing exclusive data rights & integrity partnerships with the likes of the Dota Pro Circuit, WePlay, Valve’s The International, Global Esports Games, IESF World Esports Championships
