LGD sent home after being crushed by Team Spirit

In a quick 2:0 elimination series, LGD bids farewell to BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024.

BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 playoffs are now in full swing. And while the action is kicked up a notch, so are the stakes. Today's schedule is focused on eliminations. It will be the end of the road for two more teams. 

For the first elimination series, things were rather quick. It was fast and furious and Team Spirit had brought their A-game after their crushing blow by Gaimin Gladiators yesterday in the upper brackets. 

LGD had been poised to be a legitimate contender at the event. They ended their group stage with the first seed and showcased much potential. But after falling to BetBoom yesterday in a 2:0 sweep, they just couldn't seem to pull things together. Team Spirit, on the other hand, were clearly looking to redeem themselves in the lower brackets.

The first match between these two was a very one-sided stomp. LGD was ahead of Team Spirit early on. They had a strong, solid start in the laning phase, but they just couldn't hold on to it. They had a high execution draft and hesitated a bit to be aggressive. Team Spirit used that to their advantage, capitalizing on LGD's reluctance. Excelling at aggression, Team Spirit made quick work of the Chinese team. Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov on Omni was brilliant, Denis "Larl" Sigitov had a perfect game on Puck and Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk was clearly the MVP on his Slark with a 13:1:11 record. 

In the second match Team Spirit once again absolutely shellacked LGD. Not only was LGD's draft not on par, but they also got significantly outplayed. Once again, Yatoro was the MVP, this time making it look like a cakewalk on Sven. 

Team Spirit will continue through the lower brackets and will play again on Wednesday, February 14 at 15:00 CET.

LGD goes home in 7-8th place with $35,000 in their pockets and a few ideas on what to work on going forward. They will compete in the Games of the Future set to begin on February 19th.
