Gfinity announces G3 eSports LAN event to be delayed, citing scheduling conflicts and attendance issues. Date moved to Saturday August 2nd and Sunday August 3rd.
The G3 LAN is an eSports event that was originally slated to take place during May in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London. However, their official website has recently stated that it will be moved to early August.
The announcement is not surprising, considering several other large scale tournaments like ESL One, Dreamhack Summer, and TI4 will all take place in the general timeframe. Pushing the event back will give players time to rest and recover. This is the third event this year to take place in a large venue.
With a prizepool of over $160,000, G3 will feature Call of Duty: Ghosts, Counter Strike GO, Dota 2, Starcraft II, and FIFA 14. No Dota 2 ingame ticket has been announced yet. If you have already purchased a ticket for the event, it will still be valid. Online qualifiers have been postponed to the end of May.
