The Witcher 3 director’s new studio has unveiled its first game.
In October last year, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz’s new game studio unveiled its first project: an upcoming dark fantasy action-RPG called Dawnwalker. This week, Bandai Namco Europe unveiled a first look at the game, now titled The Blood of Dawnwalker, with a cinematic trailer and some early gameplay.

Ex-Witcher developers unveil new action-RPG
Rebel Wolves, a game studio formed by ex-CD Projekt Red developers including The Witcher 3’s game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, has released a first look at The Blood of Dawnwalker. This action-RPG is planned to kick off an original dark fantasy franchise for the studio, though whether it features a single continuous storyline remains to be seen.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is set in an alternative take on 14th century Earth, where feudal lords have been recently overthrown by a clique of formidable vampires. Bandai Namco’s news release describes the game as a “narrative sandbox” where “players will forge their own story about saving their family… or taking whatever path their choices lead them down.”
Here’s the game’s full synopsis:
14th century Europe. Bloody conflicts sweep the lands, and the Black Death comes for the survivors. In the wake of the disasters claiming thousands of lives, the decimated human population struggles for survival. It's a moment of weakness. In Vale Sangora, somewhere in a forgotten corner of the Carpathian Mountains, vampires seize their opportunity to walk out of the shadows, overthrow the feudal lords and claim what they've been denied for centuries: freedom, and ultimate power that comes with it. Legends turn into reality, and history as we know it will never be the same.
Players step into the shoes of Coen, a half-vampire Dawnwalker (think Blade from Marvel Comics) capable of traversing the world during day and night. Coen has 30 days and nights in total to save his family or take revenge on his vampiric sire. The game apparently has “multiple approaches to saving Coen’s family” with time being a key resource deciding which stories and arcs players are capable of completing before the 30-day deadline.
The Blood of Dawnwalker has no release date, but Rebel Wolves plans to show off more gameplay later this summer.
