The National refuses to pay prize money; organizer stole at least $3,420

Nikita Gerasimchuk, the organizer of The National tournament, has decided not to pay Fl1psid3.ru their tournament winnings. Reports are saying he stole at least $3,420 and may have stolen up to $7,620.

In what seemed to be a noble cause turned into disaster yesterday as Nikita Gerasimchuk, the organizer of The National tournament, has decided not to pay the winners of the tournament their prize money. Prodota.ru estimates Gerasimchuk has escaped with at least $3,420 with some claiming that he received a 100% cut on the DotaTV ticket sales and in that case, he stole $7,620.

Prior to the scandal, The National tournament had a vision that the winner of the tournament will receive $2,500 in cash as well as sponsorship which includes a salary of $500 per player monthly, a bootcamp base in Saint Petersburg, gaming equipments, paid event travels and a contract with Twitch, Youtube and joinDOTA. Team Sex (currently known as Fl1psid3.ru) have not received anything after the tournament ended a month ago.

Right after the tournament ended, Gerasimchuk told the winners on Skype that he will still pay the prize money even if he does not receive his cut from Valve. Fast forward a week later, Gerasimchuk posted a troubling message on Skype, "I have problems. If I don't pay in 1 week, then it's all over". That was three weeks ago. When the players brought the issue to the forums, Gerasimchuk appeared on Skype once more and confessed that he is not capable of paying the prize money. "I tried to get more money into player salaries so they are paid enough for playing. It was sort of a gamble. I couldn't achieve everything that I planned to," Gerasimchuk resented on his failure.

Gerasimchuk claimed that he has spent all the money on himself and considered them "expenses of tournament organisation". Captain of Fl1psid3.ru brought the matter to the police but it did not help.
