With the second group stage for DreamLeague Season 20 done and dusted, we take a look at the team and hero statistics for all 70 games played.
The 2022-2023 Dota 2 season is moving fast, and we are nearing the final stretch. Once DreamLeague Season 20 ends, we’ll have the final DPC Major of the season – the Bali Major – TI12 Qualifiers, Riyadh Masters and the International 2023 itself. It’s still four months away, but we are into the final third of the season.
The top four teams who will battle it out for the DL S20 crown have been decided. PSG.LGD, BetBoom Team, Gaimin Gladiators and Talon Esports will be four teams in the double elimination playoff bracket to be played over the 24th and 25th of June. For a change, it’s refreshing to see four teams from four different regions make it to the final stage instead of Western Europe dominating the tournament.
The second group stage of the tournament featured the top eight teams – four from each of the two groups from the first group stage – play against each other. A total of 70 games were played in that round robin of games, where 91 heroes of the 124 were picked. Here, we take a look at the team and hero statistics for those eight teams for the 70 games played.

While Dota 2 patch 7.33 is well etched into the minds of players and the balance patches have done a lot in terms of bringing parity, the challenge of balancing Universal heroes is tricky. For now, IceFrog and Valve have gone with massively nerfing a lot of them on their base damage and skills, but the damage gained from each attribute still remains high at 0.7, which could be a very sensitive dial for those 31 heroes (there are, currently, exactly 31 heroes for each of the four hero types).
In the meta developing around patch 7.33d, certain heroes like Ember Spirit and Morphling seem to be extremely strong. There is also a huge list of heroes that are being ignored, who are in need of buffs. It seems imminent that the Bali Major will be played on the current patch, and there’s a good chance that more hidden strategies will be unveiled in the final DPC Major of the season. But when the Bali Major ends and the 12 teams getting direct invites to TI12 are finalized, it would be nice to have Valve release Dota 2 patch 7.34 to address some of the glaring issues with the current meta.
