Evil Geniuses are parting ways with the entire EG White roster nine months after introducing the Blueprint program aimed at developing the North American CS:GO professional scene.
In June of last year, Evil Geniuses drew inspiration from their League of Legends model and the success they registered there by winning their first LCS title and proudly announced a CS:GO Blueprint development program. In addition to their main CS:GO team, EG signed two full squads, Party Astronauts and Carpe Diem, and they projected the Blueprint program to deliver the first-ever 15-player fluid roster by 2023.
EG White and EG Black functioned under this Blueprint project for nine months, but following a poor start of 2023, the organisation is now announcing a major change in their plan.
In a statement posted on Twitter, Evil Geniuses admitted that the performance of their fluid roster “has been a miss,” after the team failed to qualify for the BLAST.tv Paris Major RMR. Additionally, the team placed just 29th-32nd at ESL Pro League Season 17.
As a consequence of the recent results, EG are parting ways with Ben "ben1337" Smith, Wesley "viz" Harris, Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue, Jonathan "Jonji" Carey, and Khizar "Momo" Rehman, which is the EG White entire line-up.
“We’ve learned a lot in the last ten months about how we want to support our academy program and are refocusing our efforts on the top ten players from our current 15-person roster,” EG said while ensuring the fans that they put their full trust in Soham "valens" Chowdhury, their Director of Athletics and their Head Coach, Daniel "Vorborg" Vorborg to make the necessary changes for the team to move in “an upward trajectory.”
Moving forward, EG are seemingly adopting a standard Academy program, which is exactly the opposite of what they wanted when the Blueprint project was launched.
