Everything you missed from Nintendo Direct March 2025
This week, Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct game presentation to show off upcoming games for its Nintendo Switch console. We got new looks at highly-anticipated games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A. However, we did not get more information on the Nintendo Switch 2 – that will only happen next week, during the official Nintendo Switch 2 Direct.
Here's the biggest news from the Nintendo Direct:
Witchbrook (2025)
This cosy urban supernatural game was announced many years ago as something of a successor to Stardew Valley, before seemingly vanishing off the face of the planet. During this week's Nintendo Direct, developers Robotality and Chuckle fish gave the game an official – and absolutely stunning – reveal. Witchbrook is set in the seaside city of Mossport, where players attend Witchbrook College to master their magical skills.
And yes, there's romance too.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A (2025)
We got a new look at Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s new battle royale mode this week. The Z-A Royale has players battle it out with trainers in designated Battle Zones, and climb from Rank Z all the way up to Rank A. Hence, the title – Z-A.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream (2025)
We're getting a new Tomodachi game, and for the first time in over 10 years, no less! In this game, players can create their own Miis and watch them live out their strange simulated lives in an island by the sea. Players will also be able to haunt the dreams of these Mii characters, to boot.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (2025)
Samus is back, and this time she's going to the planet of Viewros. The first-person game is giving Samus a variety of kinetic psychokinetic abilities with which to manipulate the environments around her, and a new suit too! For those unfamiliar: the Metroid Prime franchise works much like the 2D Metroid games you know and love, but with a first-person twist.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion (2025)
Do you like beat-em-up games like Streets of Rage and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game? Are you a big fan or Marvel Comics? If the answer to both of these questions is yes, boy do we have good news for you. The makers of Streets of Rage 4 have unveiled Marvel Cosmic Invasion, a beat-em-up starring heroes like Wolverine and Spider-Man, launching later this year.
Dragon Quest 1 + 2 HD-2D Remake (2025)
For those who haven't jumped on the Dragon Quest boat yet, here's your best opportunity to understand the RPG franchise’s enduring appeal. These remakes give the original Dragon Quest games a stunning makeover, with gorgeous visuals making them more palatable to play on modern platforms.
Nintendo Today (April 2025)
Nintendo is launching a new app called Nintendo Today, which aims to supply users with all the news and information they require relating to the company. The company plans to launch Nintendo Today following the big Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on 2 April, 2025. New information on the upcoming console will then be uploaded on the app daily.
Monument Valley 3 (2025)
The Monument Valley puzzle game franchise is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Monument Valley and Monument Valley 2 will launch on 15 April, 2024, while Monument Valley 3 is set to arrive sometime this summer.
Virtual Game Card
Nintendo is making the handling of digital games a little easier with the Virtual Card Game System. With this system, players can load and eject the digital games they own, while also using their digital games on a second Switch that they own. They can also lend their games out to users connected to a Family Group.
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar (27 August 2025)
The Story of Seasons game franchise (born from the ashes of Harvest Moon, which later influenced Stardew Valley) is getting an all-new remake. This time, the remake is of a Nintendo DS title called Grand Bazaar, bringing back it's cosy mix of social and farming sim gameplay for a new console generation.
Patapon 1+2 Replay (11 July, 2025)
Patapon and Patapon 2 are losing their PlayStation exclusivity, and will arrive on the Nintendo Switch this year. The PSP rhythm games with adorable mascots will be bundled together as a remastered package.
The Wandering Village (17 July, 2025)
