Operation Vanguard scheduled to end today

After exactly three months of service, Operation Vanguard is finally scheduled to come to an end.

Note: The deadline has been extended to March 31st.

The operation, which was added as part of the November 11, 2014 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive update, featured four new bomb defusal maps (Bazaar, Facade, Marquis, and Season) and two new hostage rescue maps (Backalley and Bazaar). The operation also included an updated edition of de_train.

Operation Vanguard also saw the addition of "Campaigns", which consisted of missions that rewarded a weapon skin upon completion. Completing a series of missions within a campaign allowed players to earn "Challege Stars" and upgrade their Operation Vanguard Challenge Coin. It also allowed people to track key stats of competetive matchmaking during the Operation and compete with friends via a shared scoreboard.

Passes for the operation cost $5.99, but players can also buy addition campaigns for $2.99 each.

The end of the operation will mean that the maps and campaigns/missions will no longer be able to be played in any of the gamemodes. However, weapon cases will continue to drop and the new community skins that were added in the update will still remain.
