ASUS Republic of Gamers Winter Tournament has revealed the first three invited teams for their upcoming event.
ASUS ROG Winter was announced two weeks ago and as said that the tournament will take place alongside ASSEMBLY, the Finnish computer convention, on January 30th and 31st. The competing eight teams will be chosen by both qualifiers and invitations, and will fight through the double elimination stage and the playoffs for a chance at the $12,000 first place prize, with $7,000, $4,000, and $2,000 prizes being awarded to the second, third, and fourth place teams respectively.
Today, the tournament organizers have revealed the first three invited teams: Ninjas in Pyjamas, HellRaisers and Titan. They will be joined by three more invited teams and two coming from the qualifiers.
The casting crew is also known. The voted best casting duo of 2014 in our GosuGamers Awards, Anders "Anders" Blume and Auguste "Semmler" Massonnat will be in charge of commentating the matches, while former NiP player Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson and Richard Lewis will be at the panel doing pre and post match discussions.
The group stages will be played on Friday the 30th, with the single elimination playoffs happening on Saturday, which will be played in a best of 3 format. Teams that wish to be sent a invite to attend the event must fill out an application in order to be considered. Online qualifiers are most likely gonna be held on January 10-11, where the top two teams will secure the ticket for the Main Event. The Main Event, sponsored by ASUS, is to take place in Helsinki, Finland on January 30-31.
