T1 will face EDward Gaming in a five-game lower bracket finals match on 1 March.

It was a do-or-die affair between VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Pacific second seed T1 and VCT EMEA first seed Team Vitality in the lower bracket semifinals of the VALORANT Masters Bangkok on Friday (28 February). After an intense series, T1 pulled through and triumphed, eliminating Team Vitality with a hard-earned 2-1 victory.

Team Vitality entered the competition guns blazing, swiftly securing wins in the first two rounds of the Swiss Stage to qualify for the Playoffs. However, in the upper bracket semifinals, they were stunned by G2 Esports in a 2-0 upset sweep, marking their first loss of the tournament.

Meanwhile, T1 took a longer route, surviving an elimination match in Round 2 of the Swiss Stage before delivering a 2-0 revenge sweep against Pacific first seed DRX to advance to the Playoffs. In the upper bracket semifinals, T1 were outplayed by EDward Gaming (EDG) 2-1, dropping them into the Lower Bracket.

T1 triumph over Team Vitality in three maps

In the first game on Lotus, T1 were dominant throughout the first half, taking advantage of Vitality’s slow start. Eventually, the European team started to warm up, but the first half still went in favour of T1, 8-4. The second half of the map was a more intense encounter, with both teams going for scrappy plays to one-up each other. Although T1 were mostly in the lead, Vitality caught up to the South Korean team at 11-11. And while T1 managed to reach map point, it was Team Vitality that eventually pulled through, 14-12.

Unwilling to go down just yet, T1 fought back in the second game on Haven, once again overwhelming Vitality in the first few rounds. For a while, it looked like a repeat of the first game, with T1 ahead at the half, 8-4. However, the second half told a different story, with T1 refusing to give Vitality a chance to mount a comeback, winning all rounds in the second half to take the map 13-4.

The third game decider on Split was an all-out brawl, with both teams trading rounds early on. However, as the game progressed, T1 grew in confidence, running away with 9 rounds while Vitality answered with 3 in the first half. With their backs against the wall, the European first seed did all they could to close the score gap, taking two more wins for the team. However, seemingly fired up to win, T1 overpowered Vitality at every turn. Eventually, T1 won the second half 4-2 and took the series 13-5.

With this victory, T1 will face EDward Gaming tomorrow (1 March) in the lower bracket finals, a best-of-five series to determine who will advance to the grand finals to face the tournament's first grand finalist in G2 Esports.

Meanwhile, Team Vitality are eliminated from the tournament in 4th place, taking home US$35,000 in consolation.
