Team Heretics cruise through EDward Gaming 2-0 to proceed to the upper bracket semi-finals. EDG will play through lower bracket.
Team Heretics followed G2 Esports to the upper bracket semi-finals after completely dismantling 
EDward Gaming 2-0 in their upper bracket quarter-finals. This win also maintained their status as the destroyer of the Chinese team in VALORANT Champions Tour 2024: Masters Shanghai.
Team Heretics looked confident in their performance on the Swiss Stage and entirely in their zone even before stepping onto the stage. They had already won against two Chinese teams and looked to make it three.
EDward Gaming, on the other hand, was the crowd's favourite as they are the home team in Masters Shanghai. They are also the last VCT China's team in the tournament, as the other two were eliminated in the Swiss Stage one. Pressure and hope were on the EDG's players back.
Only four rounds were needed for Team Heretics to prove why they are a team to consider in the tournament, as they read entirely all of EDG's movement on Sunset. Team Heretic's pick was spot on as they maintained their advantage against the VCT China's representative to end the first half 8-4.
On Attack, TH lost the first two rounds against EDG, giving the home team something to cheer on. However, when the EMEA's representative got their first full buy in the second half, the following five rounds were utterly dominated by Team Heretics as they closed the match 13-6.
Going into Map 2, momentum was behind Team Heretics side. EDG pick Split as they looked to have revenge against the team that put down their brothers. The stage is set for both teams to prove themselves in the stage.
Nothing was going right for Edward Gaming from the first half of the map as Team Heretics, almost mirroring the first half, dismantled the team to a 10-2 half, sucking the life of every viewer watching live on-site. This momentum was carried into the second half as Team Heretics got the first and bonus round. EDG stole one round from the EMEA's representative before bowed out from the upper bracket in a whopping 13-3 loss.
After defeating all three of the VCT China's team, Team Heretics was no longer the tournament's underdog. Instead, Team Heretics are one of the teams that needed to be considered to be champions. Their next test will be G2 Esports. EDG, meanwhile, still have a second chance in the lower bracket to prove themself to be the pride of the home crowd.
