LOUD breeze past EDward Gaming at VCT Masters Madrid

EDward Gaming is eliminated from VCT Masters Madrid

LOUD only dropped five rounds in two maps against EDward Gaming.

In what was arguably one of the fastest series in VCT Masters history, LOUD eliminated EDward Gaming from the tournament and book their slot in the playoffs. EDG have become the third team to be eliminated from VCT Masters Madrid as we bid farewell to both Chinese squads that have left in the last 24 hours.

While it wasn't the best of performances from EDG, LOUD made sure they would double-down on the pressure and were relentless in both games. To put into perspective on how far EDG's performance dipped from the start of the tournament until today, the lowest a team has scored at VCT Masters Madrid was 5 rounds in a single map. That was also the total score EDG had after both games against LOUD.

It's getting LOUD-er

LOUD were utterly dominant from start to finish and it showed on Icebox where they went 11-for-12 in the first half, dropping only the third round in a completely one-sided performance. This was exemplified by Matias “Saadhak” Delipetro's 3K in the 11th round to further stamp LOUD's authority over game one. While EDG was able to bounce back and take the pistol round, LOUD needed just two more wins to take the first game and did so off of another Saadhak 3K to grab the match-point, and soon after the game.

EDG only managed two rounds in the first game and it looked grim for the number seed from China. To add further insult to injury, the second map was taking place on LOUD's choice of Sunset. And they showed just why with a clean defence on the pistol round. However, EDG managed to respond with two quick rounds of their own that included a thrifty in the second round as well as a clutch 4K from Yongkang “ZmjjKK” Zheng.

But all that did was light a fire within LOUD, who took off from there on and didn't let that two-round drop stop them. In eight straight rounds, LOUD was able to fully neutralise EDG as the likes of Arthur “tuyz” Vieira and Gabriel “qck1” Lima getting 3Ks with the latter doing it three times in the first half.

While EDG did manage to pull one back before the break to make it 9-3, LOUD did not stop and went for the kill in four straight rounds to wrap up the series. And who else but qck1 and tuyz to get another 3K each in the pistol and 15th rounds respectively.

LOUD will now join Gen.G Esports and Sentinels in the playoffs as they await the final do-or-die series between Paper Rex and Karmine Corp later today.
