North America get the first team through to the next round as Shopify Rebellion made it look effortless.
Shopify Rebellion made it quick and effortless against Chao Hui EDG to send themselves to the upper bracket semifinals. They will await the winners between BBL Queens and KRÜ Blaze. In the tournament's third straight 2-0 victory, SR took the quickest to finish the best-of-three series in a little over an hour.
Unfortunately for CH EDG, that loss will drop them to the lower bracket where they will have to play additional games to force their way back into the fight. And it wasn't the best of starts for the Chinese squad as SR rode their momentum from the first round win to take nine in a row. This included four double kills for Sarah “sarah” Simpson and Ava “florescent” Eugene during that nine-round streak.
CH EDG were able to finally get one on the board in the 10th round, but SR would take two back soon after. And with just two more rounds needed to close the first game, SR did it in style during the pistol round as florescent closed it out with 1v1 as well as an ace. The Chinese team looked gassed towards the end and SR were quick to take the 14th and final round to take the first map on Haven.
Sunset was the map of choice in game two and florescent who got the game rolling with a 4K during the pistol round. She soon followed it up with a 3K in the second round to give SR a strong start once again. They would go on to win seven rounds in a row to start game two as Nicole “Noia” Tierce also got on the board with a 4K of her own in the fourth round. And in the last five rounds, CH EDG would finally get on the board by winning the eighth and 10th rounds whilst SR took the next three to go 10-2 into the half.
SR took the following three rounds in a row to solidify its electric performances across both games against CH EDG. This was encapsulated by a clean 3K from Melanie “meL” Capone in the last round to seal the deal. Noia also chipped in with a second 4K of her own in the 13th round.
They will be back in action the following day on Friday, December 1 at 8:00 p.m. GMT-3.
