Moist Esports and Shopify Rebelion joined forces and created MxS.
Moist Esports and Shopify Rebelion prepares hand in hand for the upcoming VALORANT Challengers North America. With this collaboration, MxS was born.
The announcement came as a surprise to the community but fans are generally happy about the collaboration. Moist Esports reiterated that they share the same values with Shopify Rebellion and the partnership will only strengthen their stand in the current pro scene.
Co-Owner of Moist Esports, Ludwig Ahgren, told fans that the move stemmed from the success achieved when players from Moist Moguls and Shopify Rebellion played together on a mixed roster called Lobster Fishers.
Rather than making players choose an organization, Ludwig decided to open a conversation with Shopify Rebellion. Both organizations opted to combine their VALORANT roster. Shopify will aid Ludwig’s plan for the new team financially.
Moist Esports and Shopify Rebelion both played in VALORANT Challengers 2023: North America Challenger Playoffs last June. This was the last tournament for both teams as they failed to take the VALORANT Ascension slots.
MxS revealed their new roster including Xavier "flyuh" Carlson, Brady "thief" Dever, and Brock "brawk" Somerhalder from Moist Esports while they took Adam "mada" Pampuch and Victor "v1c" Truong from Shopify Rebellion.
Fans are eager to see the outcome of this collaboration in the upcoming VALORANT Challengers North America.
This business move also created an option for Tier 2 and Tier 3 organizations who were planning to exit the VALORANT scene. Collaborations like this will also require less financial burn rate.
If other organizations pick up this strategy, less teams will be competing in the Tier 2 and Tier 3 scene. It will create limited opportunities for aspiring players but it will be more sustainable in the long-term. With the upgrade in the organization’s budget overall, more professional players will actually thrive.
