Sharing is caring after all as both Singapore and Indonesia have agreed to split the spoils.
For the first time ever, both teams from Singapore and Indonesia have agreed to share the gold medals for VALORANT at the 32nd SEA Games. This comes after Singapore had already won the first map 13-8 and looked poised to secure a clean 2-0 victory.
Unfortunately, that is when the drama escalated. Having led on Split with a score of 10-4, Singapore were just three rounds away from clinching the gold only for play to be stopped due to an in-game dispute. Indonesian players had noticed that the Cypher on Team Singapore was allegedly exploring a known bug within the game.
This led to Team Indonesia lodging a formal complaint against Team Singapore, citing that Cypher's camera bug would give them an unfair advantage in terms of vision and positioning. This was the cause of the long delay of the grand finals that lasted throughout the rest of the night.
And after many deliberations, it was first assumed that Indonesia had forfeited its gold medals earlier today. This was stated by Juanita “Valezka” Tanjung, the brand ambassador for Team Indonesia at the SEA Games. She also goes on to add that the team's decision to forfeit the grand final was so they can "uphold the nation’s dignity and considering the unfavourable conditions of the situation”.
However, this has since been debunked as both Singapore and Indonesia have since agreed to share the gold medals. And in this instance, the silver medal will not be given out. As for the Philippines, they walk away with a bronze medal after managing to win 2-0 against Team Vietnam.
