Fnatic issues an update on Alfajer's availability in the VCT EMEA League.
After missing Fnatic's first game of the VCT EMEA League, it looks like Emir ‘Alfajer’ Beder will be unavailable to travel to Berlin for the team's upcoming match against BBL Esports. This is due to visa issues coming out of Turkey, mostly because of the tragedy that befell the nation just a month before.
Victims of the February 6 earthquake, which has also taken the lives of more than 50,000 people from both Turkey and Syria, currently carry a greater priority in terms of obtaining a visa out of the country. This is mainly what has slowed down Alfajer's visa process.
However, there is still light at the end of the tunnel for Alfajer. According to Fnatic's team director Colin ‘CoJo’ Johnson on Twitter, they have received good news on his long-term visa, it's just waiting on a short-term solution that will see him pair up with his teammates once more. In his stead, Maks ‘kamyk’ Rychlewski has taken up the role with gusto, playing a part in Fnatic taking out Giant in the opening series of the VCT EMEA League.
He was part of the squad that managed to defeat Giants 2-0 to open up Fnatic's account in the EMEA. While kamyk will be playing in Alfajer's place for the team's match against BBL Esports later today, Fnatic is confident that Alfajer should be back in time for the team's next match against Team Heretics on April 6.
Alfajer joined the team back in May 2022 and was one of the reasons why Fnatic have been so dominant lately, especially during the VCT LOCK//IN. Not only did Fnatic lift their first LAN trophy in VALORANT, they did so in an emphatic fashion by defeating the defending world champions in front of their home crowd.
