An intense battle was had at the EMEA VCT Stage 2 Challengers finals where Team Liquid faced off Fnatic in a nail biting and intensive grand finals. With a score of 3 – 2, Team Liquid walked away with the win and a big chunk of the cash prize (€35,000) while at the same time securing a spot in the Reykjavík Masters in Iceland.
Both teams breezed through the group play and the playoffs, with Team Liquid defeating Oxygen Esports while Fnatic trounced Gambit Esports on their way to the grand finals.
Fnatic took the first win at Haven, but Team Liquid bartered blows and snatched the victory at IceBox and Ascent. Fnatic clawed back to win in Bind, before the match was decided with a Team Liquid victory on Split. The MVP of the game was Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom, with his many clutches throughout the finals.
Liquid and Fnatic will represent the EMEA region at Masters Reykjavík. Sentinels and Version1 will represent NA at the event, and NUTURN Gaming, Crazy Raccoon, and X10 CRIT will represent Korea, Japan, and SEA, respectively.
