Capcom cancels Monster Hunter Wilds optimisation lecture amid harassment concerns

Capcom has cancelled a planned Monster Hunter Wilds lecture amid harassment concerns.

Capcom has officially cancelled a planned lecture on Monster Hunter Wilds optimisation amid concerns over staff harassment. The game publisher was planning to host a lecture at the CEDEC 2025 conference in Pacific Yokohama North, Japan later this month.

However, the conference has been cancelled, as the ongoing controversy regarding Monster Hunter Wilds' performance and optimisation has now led to Capcom staff getting harassed and threatened online.

Capcom cancels an optimisation lecture on Monster Hunter Wilds amid harassment concerns

Capcom has cancelled a planned lecture regarding the optimisation of Monster Hunter Wilds’ in-game performance. According to Automaton, the lecture was planned to cover video game optimisation using Monster Hunter Wilds’ development as an example, covering CPU, GPU, and memory load issues.

The timing of this lecture’s cancellation has fans speculating that it could be related to recent concerns of Capcom staff harassment over Monster Hunter Wilds’ performance. The game has seen a swathe of complaints from PC players over its in-game performance, with Capcom eventually addressing these problems on its Japanese Twitter/X page.

However, the company also released an official statement on its website addressing (via machine translation) “intimidation, perjury notice, business obstruction notice, harassment, and other acts” aimed towards its staff recently. The company noted that it would respond to cases of harassment with legal action.

Monster Hunter Wilds is currently sitting at an Overwhelmingly Negative rating on Steam, with just 12% of the over 20,000 user reviews in the last 30 days being positive. A quick look through recent negative reviews on the platform confirms that most of them are performance-related, while some are also criticising the sequel's gameplay changes compared to previous entries.

Monster Hunter Wilds’ recently-released Title Update 2 added Lagiacrus, Seregios, Layered Weapons, and underwater combat.
