Blizzard has partnered with Next Generation Esports (NGE) to hold the first Overwatch Winter Premiere.
Teams from all over North America will come together and compete for the $100,000 prize pool. The competition will begin early next month and will end January 2017. All teams can sign in here if they believe they can answer the call to action.
Teams will be able to begin registration December 2nd to enter the online qualifiers, which span between December 10th-13th. After the qualifiers, the top eight teams will advance for three weeks of group play. Afterwards, the winners of those matches will prove their worth at the Winter Premiere, which will be live at NGE Studios in Burbank, CA at the end of January.
In regards to the partnership with Blizzard, NGE founder and CEO Andy Vander Woude says “NGE’s philosophy is to find the most ambitious esports partners and work with them to elevate their shows […] That’s why we’re thrilled to work with Blizzard to create an esports experience perfectly matched to Overwatch fans.”
This event will provide a taste of what's to come for Overwatch’s esports presence ahead of the Overwatch League beginning next year.
