This survival shooter will be Will Smith’s videogame debut.

Developers Lightspeed (PUBG Mobile) and Level Infinite have released a new trailer for their upcoming survival game Undawn, revealing that Will Smith will star as a character named Trey Jones. The game takes place in the post-apocalypse, launching on June 15, 2023 on Android, iOS and PC platforms.

Watch the trailer below:

The short teaser follows Trey Jones, played by Smith, as he guns down various monsters before striding out into the post-apocalyptic world of Undawn on his lonesome. Despite what you might think, Jones won’t be one of the game’s main playable characters. Players will instead encounter the survivor during gameplay, where he will serve as a guide to teach players how to survive their dangerous new surroundings.

Strangely enough, Undawn is Will Smith’s very first starring role in a videogame. The actor, who recently gained infamy for certain acts of violence at certain awards shows, has only provided his likeness for a Men in Black game adaptation. He has never lent his voice to a videogame role however, and seeing as his character doesn’t speak in this trailer, that might not change anytime soon.

Undawn is an open-world survival game that takes place after Earth was decimated by a global disaster five years ago. Players will have to fight various factions that have risen up in that time as part of the Raven Squad. In order to stake their claim on territory in the open world, they'll use weapons and tactical gear ranging from guns to drones. With enemy factions and dangerous weather to contend against, players are tasked with gathering resources, teaming up with others and building up bases to survive and thrive.

You can pre-register for early access now, ahead of its release date on June 15.
