GSTL is about to start in one week's time and today we get to see some brand new battle grounds that will debut in tournament environment.
Red City and DMZ are the newest additions to tournament pool and will join familiar maps like Whirlwind, Bel'Shir Vestige and Icarus. Two Blizzard maps largely used during the beta - Star Station and Akilon Wastes - have also been added.
Red City
Red City is a big, four player map with starting positions in each corner. Three expansions are situated on the highground, making it easy for players to secure and occupy a corner of their own. However, with spawning positions not limited to cross, players will have to adjust how they take bases in the earlier stages depending on where their opponent spawns.
The map is built in such way that it feature both wide open spaces in the center and a maze of choke points, ramps and destructible rocks.
DMZ
Looking like a rotated Cloud Kingdom, DMZ has two spans positions in bottom right and top left. The main difference from CK, however, is the position of the third and fourth bases, both very close to the ramp coming down from the natural. Additionally, the bases in the top right and bottom left corner as to serve as fifth bases.
Also similar to Cloud Kingdom is the middle area, rich on ramps and alternative paths and two watch towers overlooking the very center.
With that, the compete map pool for GSTL is as follows:
• Whirlwind
• Bel'Shir Vestige
• Akilon Wastes
• Star Station
• DMZ
• Red City
• Icarus
The tournament commences March 22nd.
