The GSL for this week is over and Code S is ready to begin on January 22nd.
Symbol, Byun, Center, Jaedong and Shine were featured in the last Up/Down group comprised of all the third place finishers from the past five days and which determined the last two players to climb up to Code S.
Not entirely surprising was seeing Symbol make it all the way to the top of the group. The now teamless zerg closed 2012 with a very strong run taking top six at IPL 5 and second at HSC VI and seeing him promoted to Code S was only logical. Symbol dropped but one set to Jaedong, making him the indisputable winner of the group.
Prime's terran ByuN took the second Code S seed barely dodging the possibility of a tie breaker. Tied 2-2 with Jaedong and Center, ByuN was lucky enough to have his two wins come from exactly those two players, giving him the direct win advantage and thus the runner up spot in the group.
The list of 32 Code S players is thus complete and the competitors will learn the drawings for the first group stage soon. The tournament itself resumes on Monday, January 22nd.
