Lucifer is back to his best in ZOTAC

After a little break, Lucifer returned successfully to the 259th ZOTAC Cup final this weekend.

Meeting Lucifer in a ZOTAC final is a pretty intimidating prospect and this weekend he showed once again why that is. It wasn't the most exciting match ever, but the undead player showed his superiority by winning 3-1. Every map was a struggle, however, starting with a 21-minute slug fest on Amazonia. It set the trend for the best-of-five series, as the whole game revolved around Kenshin's expansion. From the moment it went up, almost the entire game focused on fights around the second town hall. Fiends and frost wyrms battled breakers and knights (with a little help from dragonhawks) until Lucifer eventually managed to overcome the human player and take a 1-0 lead.

Game two was a bit different, as Kenshin opted to go Mountain King first on Ancient Isle. The extra stopping power of a level three MK allowed the expansion to go up comfortably and even netted a Deathknight kill. Kenshin's early advantage snowballed and he was able to tie the match up again. Twisted Meadows was almost identical to game one, except that the battles were fought at the human's main base instead of his expansion. Lucifer even tried to build spirit towers there, though they were taken down quite easily. Still, with almost the entire game happening on Kenshin's side of the map, it was almost inevitable that he would lose and he eventually did.

Now Lucifer just had to win on Last Refuge to take home the prize and the game started out like most of the others. Both players battled around Kenshin's expansion yet again, with Lucifer managing to save his low health heroes on numerous occasions. Kenshin was never able to force the undead away for more than a few seconds and eventually the pressure became too much. Lucifer took an impressive if unexciting 3-1 victory, using the same strategy in all four games.
