Rain faced off against Emal on Last Refuge first up. The orc player went for a fast tier three with Wyverns and poison. Rain was totally unprepared and lost quickly. He had fiends, but the game was over before he could research the Web upgrade.
Secret Valley offered the undead a shot at redemption but Rain was unable to grab it. This game was more passive with limited harassment and a handful of small skirmishes leading up to a decisive final battle. Emal started that fight with a 20 food advantage, which only increased despite fighting in the undead player’s base, putting the orc 2-0 up.
Rain’s last chance was Echo Isle, but again the game was quite passive. Emal tried to steal a few creeps with his Blademaster but there was little in the way of action until he tried to expand. Rain was able to take it down and had a small supply lead heading into the late game. Some strong hero focus from Emal managed to turn the tide, however, and when he re-established his expansion he seemed to have the advantage. One more battle put paid to the undead player’s hopes as he continues to lose heroes at an alarming rate.
