IdrA, SEn in bottom two tiers for GSL Code S group drawing

GOMTV has revamped the GSL format coming in to 2012. As the Code S Round of 16 will be played in dual tournament mode, the group drawing has been moved to be broadcasted after the Code S Round of 32 group stage.

The players entering the group drawing for Round of 32 are divided into four tiers, based on the eight best placings of GSL November and the GSL Point Ranking system.

One player from each tier will fill the eight groups of four. The top two will move on to the Round of 16 while the bottom two will move over to Code A.

The champion and runner-up of GSL November, Jjakji and Leenock, will have the privilege to choose an opponent from tier 4 to include in his group. The other players will be assigned into groups A to H randomly.

Non-korean players Greg "IdrA" Fields and Yang "Sen" Chia Cheng are in tier 3 and 4 respectively.

The first matches will be kicking off on Monday, January 9 as Group A will be played through. When the group drawing for Round of 32 will air has not yet been announced.


The Round of 16 group drawing will then take place on January 20, and will feature the 16 players that made it out of the Round of 32 group stage.
