RSG Philippines announced their exit from MPL Philippines, but not without a cliffhanger.
RSG Philippines, the Philippine Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) division of Singapore-based organisation RSG, officially announced their exit from the MLBB Professional League (MPL) Philippines and will not attend the league's 15th season.
RSG Philippines made their announcement through the team's official social media accounts, where they confirmed their exit from MPL Philippines by saying “our raid is over” but not without teasing what's next by following up with “or is it…?” The caption accompanying these announcements further added fuel to speculations that RSG Philippines won't be entirely gone from the scene, as the team said “Every end has a new beginning, Phase 1 is now completed. See you in the next game!”
RSG Philippines' departure from MPL Philippines first became apparent when the team hosted a garage sale in their boot camp. While a garage sale by itself is pretty normal, the team sold many of their gaming peripherals in this one, which raised suspicions regarding their participation in the next season of MPL Philippines.
RSG Philippines is now the second team to leave MPL Philippines before the start of Season 15. Earlier this week, Blacklist International also bid farewell to the league after an era-defining five years in MLBB esports.
RSG Philippines joined MPL Philippines in 2021 for MPL Philippines Season 8. They then rose to prominence in Season 9, when they successfully won the league, beating Omega Esports in the final with a 4-1 victory. They cemented their legacy in MLBB esports with an astounding 4-0 victory against RRQ Hoshi in the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2022.
However, their dominance didn't persist as they failed to defend their championship in Season 10 of MPL Philippines. However, they were still regarded as one of the best teams in the league with a Top 4 finish until Season 14, when they plummeted to a seventh-place finish.
With RSG Philippines and Blacklist International's exit from MPL Philippines, the league now has two empty slots for other organisations to fill. MPL Philippines has yet to officially announce the teams that will be filling the two vacant spots in the league.
