The natural order mostly returned as most of the M6 favourites picked up the crucial win they need for a Knockout Stage spot.
The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M6 World Championship Swiss Stage continued with its second day as both high and low-seed teams delivered jaw-dropping performances. While upsets were the theme of day one, the second day went according to the plan for many of the tournament favourites. However, this didn’t mean the games were all one-sided. All eight games were blood-pumping and adrenaline-packed as big fights happened constantly.
Here are the results of the second day of the M6 World Championship Swiss Stage:
The first match of the second day saw a matchup between S2G Esports, the champion of Türkiye, and BloodThirstyKings (BTK), who coincidentally met their second Turkish opponent on the stage. While S2G tried to enact revenge on the American representatives, Michael “MobaZane” Cosgun and his teammates had another plan for them. The infamous leader picked his signature hero, Fredrinn, and worked with Oscar “Shark” Vo to put BTK one win away from securing a spot in the Knockout Stage.
The second match paired Twisted Minds with Falcon Esports from Myanmar, with both teams successfully surprising the crowd with their discipline and unique playstyles. While Mahmoud “7oda” Ayman and Ayman Othman Bin “Sanji” Muidh Alqarni played a vital role on the first day for Twisted Minds, this time around it was both Sulaiman “Saano” Alrashdi and Muath “Cuffin” Alkoraini that stepped up against Falcon Esports. With the game going too late, Bruno and Cecilion dominated the series and secured a second victory for the MENA representatives.
The third match was between the runner-up of the MLBB Professional League (MPL) Malaysia, Team Vamos, and the champions of LATAM, Maycam Evolve. Team Vamos fell victim to an upset in day one, but they were much more prepared for what the MPL LATAM representative brought into day two. Their gameplay was much more solid, even pulling out a Roamer Helcurt, which was made famous by Allen Jedric “Baloyskie” Baloy from Geek Fam ID. This performance resulted in Team Vamos improving their score to 1-1 while kicking Maycam Evolve into an Elimination Match with a 0-2 score.
The fourth match of the day pitted the Filipino superteam Aurora Gaming against NIP Flash, the sole representative of MPL Singapore. While everyone predicted a highly competitive contest, many expected Aurora Gaming to grab the win.
Well, NIP Flash proved why they are worthy of taking the 3rd-4th place finish in the Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024 with their proper Hylos and Chou setup. NIP Flash didn’t pick the usual obscure drafts they did in MPL Singapore, instead showing how they could use the meta to their advantage with strong heroes like Joy and Moskov. Ultimately, they won the series in dominant fashion and improving their score to 1-1. In stark contrast, Aurora drop to 0-2 – a dire crisis for the runners-up of MPL Philippines.
The fifth series was another match against MPL ID representatives for KeepBest Gaming. This time, they faced the champion of Indonesia, Team Liquid ID. If the first day was a stomp fest from the king of kings, this time it was Team Liquid ID’s time for a stampede as China’s best was getting trampled again. The cavalry proved to be too much for KeepBest Gaming as Aldhia “Aran” Aranda just locked down his opponents with Gloo, enabling Sultan “Aeron” Muhammad to take over the map in the mid-game. Team Liquid ID also improve to 1-1 while KeepBest Gaming face elimination in the next round down 0-2.
Selangor Red Giants (SRG) were shocked by S2G Gaming on the first day. This time, they met with another Türkiye representative in ULFHEDNAR. At first, it looked like another upset would happen as Ahmet “Rosa” Batir dominated the opposition with his Pharsa. However, Malaysia's finest recovered in time to make a comeback with flawless Bruno gameplay. SRG have now bounced back from their disastrous day one and improve to a 1-1 record while yet another team face elimination as ULFHEDNAR is now down 0-2.
The seventh match showcased Fnatic ONIC PH as they faced Cambodia's CFU Gaming. The MPL Philippines Season 14 winner drafted a very aggressive lineup with high magical damage output from Cecilion and Harith. While CFU Gaming put out a decent fight, it was only a matter of time before the Filipino giants took over the game and ended it in one fell swoop. Fnatic ONIC PH improve to 2-0 while CFU Gaming are treading water with a 1-1 record.
The last series of the day was a clash between Team Spirit and RRQ Hoshi. This was a reunion match for Team Spirit's coach, Vrendon "Vrendon Lin" Pesebre, the former coach of the Kings of Kings.
The match showcased a Gold Lane masterclass from both Pak Anton “Hiko” Igorevich and Schevenko David “Skylar” Tendean, who were the best players for their respective teams in this series. However, RRQ Hoshi showed their experience and understanding of the meta more as they baited Spirit into a precarious Lord fight that gave the Indonesian squad the win. RRQ Hoshi is the fourth team to reach a 2-0 record while Spirit have been dealt their first loss after winning in day one.
The M6 World Championship continues with day three of the Swiss Stage. The stakes will be higher this time as the high seeds compete in Advancement Matches to the Knockout Stage. Meanwhile, the low seeds will be fighting to stay alive in the Elimination Matches. Here are the draws for the third day of the Swiss Stage:
- High Seeds (2-0):
- Twisted Minds Vs RRQ Hoshi
- BloodThirstyKings Vs Fnatic ONIC PH
- Mid Seeds (1-1):
- Team Vamos Vs CFU Gaming
- Selangor Red Giants Vs Falcon Esports
- S2G Esports Vs NIP Flash
- Team Liquid ID Vs Team Spirit
- Low Seeds (0-2):
