BloodThirstyKings outplay their opponents to secure a spot at MSC 2023

North America’s Challenger Tournament Spring 2023 event came to a thrilling end today with BloodThirstyKings taking on Outplay in the grand finals.

After a two-week break, the grand finals of the NACT Spring 2023 event finally saw its culmination, with the grand finals between two of the best teams from the region. BTK and OP had both made a name for themselves in the region, and players from both sides are known across the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang world – but a win today would gift the team with entrance into MSC 2023, as the event opens its doors to the rest of the world.

Going into the best-of-seven series, it was OP who seemed hungrier for the victory, completely obliterating the BTK squad at every turn. With Oscar “Shark” Vo's Franco landing Iron Hooks across the Land of Dawn, OP secured a solid game-one win. However, BTK turned things around in game two, punishing the OP line-up and tying the series at 1-1.

With the wind in their sails, BTK charged up a head of steam and ploughed forward in game three, taking control of the series with great performances across the board, especially from JoyBoj’s Grock, which was an unkillable force for the team. It was a very back-and-forth series between these two juggernauts of NA MLBB, with neither backing down from fights, and neither wanting to give the other the edge. OP was in the driver’s seat in game four, with the Franco for Shark once again causing chaos and helping them lock the series at 2-2 with a 14-minute win.

Game five was an amazing showing from both sides, as OP took a strong early game lead with their standard aggressive plays – which BTK had absolutely no answer for. However, even with all of their base towers down, BTK’s defence was untouchable, as they pushed OP back into their own base and claimed a stunning victory.

Not today

The pendulum swung once more, as Outplay showed another brilliant performance to ensure the entire series would come down to the final game. It was Jang “Hoon” Seong-hun's Yve who was the unstoppable playmaker on this occasion, ending with a 7-0-15 score line. With the momentum now in their favour, OP seemed destined to secure their spot at MSC 2023 and claim the victory in game seven. Their aggression continued to be a massive problem for BTK, and it was unrelenting across the map.

But, much like we had seen before, it was the resolve of BTK which held up as they defended their base and secured a massive victory over Outplay. With a series that went the full distance, BloodThirstyKings defied the odds, with Michael “MobaZane” Cosgun going up against his ex-teammates and coming out on top. The team now join a list of fantastic teams at MSC 2023, which includes the recent Middle East and North Africa qualifier, Team Occupy from Egypt.
