Myanmar won the MLBB SEA Games bronze match to place third in the MLBB SEA Games Men's tournament in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
In the battle for third place at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) men's tournament, the host nation Cambodia took on the fearsome team Myanmar in a best-of-three series.
The final day started with a full house with the local fans packing the NABA Theatre to support their national heroes. Cambodia and Myanmar fought all their might in the group stage to reach the semi-finals but were defeated by Malaysia and the Philippines with a 2-1 score respectively.
For the nation's pride and glory
The first game started with Team Cambodia opting for a healing composition featuring Estes at the core with Fredrinn and Arlott at the front, protecting Beatrix and Valentina. Team Myanmar anticipated the opponent's plan and responded with a Helcurt pick to conclude their draft.
Pairing the hero's ultimate in Dark Night Falls with constant harassment from Gloo, Khufra, Pharsa, and Karrie to seal the deal, inevitably spelled doom for Cambodia.
Myanmar never stopped with their aggression since the first minute and dominated the mid-game, taking 8 turrets and 2 lords by the 12th minute to go for the final push.
Clean sweep at the NABA Theatre
Despite having a homecourt advantage and thunderous cheers from the frantic fans, the Cambodian players looked stoic and demotivated entering the second game.
Once again, Myanmar prioritised Karrie for the Goldlane in the draft and secured a strong support duo in Valentina and Lolita. While Cambodia banked on a late-game composition trusting the combination of Gloo and Khufra could stall the game long enough for Xavier and Claude to pop off.
However, it is a Déjà Vu in game 2, as Myanmar trampled through the Cambodian defense and got 6 kills in 5 minutes, 2 on the head of Xavier who needs a bit of time and farm to scale into the late game.
Z1PPY's Karrie and Kenn's Lancelot proceeds to slice through the Cambodian formation like butter and ended the game in under 12 minutes with a 16-0 kill score.
The players were devastated and the theatre was silenced.
In line with the tournament's slogan "Sports, live in peace", both teams will be receiving bronze medals.
