The King of Kings return to claim their elusive crown in the Axiata Arena, the place where they first try to capture the throne.

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M6 World Championship is set to kick off on November 21, with 23 of the best MLBB teams from all across the world fighting to claim the lion's share of a $1 million prize pool and this year's MLBB world title. In this series, we'll be taking a look at all the teams that qualified for the Swiss Stage and their chances of becoming the 2024 MLBB world champions.

The ninth entry in our series will feature RRQ Hoshi, an organisation very familiar with the M World Series and the M1 World Championship runners-up. Can they finally take the elusive crown in M6?

RRQ Hoshi roster:

  1. Schevenko David “Skylar” Tendean
  2. Hajirin “Rinz” Arafat
  3. Rendy “Dyrennn” Syahputra
  4. Said Ali “idok” Ridho
  5. Arthur “Sutsujin” Sunarkho
  6. Muhammad “Hazle” Balakosa

RRQ Hoshi is one of the most storied organisations in MLBB, as they can count a second place finish in the M1 World Championship and four MLBB Professional League (MPL) Indonesia titles in their list of accolades. While their current roster will be making their M Series debuts in M6, RRQ Hoshi's full Indonesian squad are still looking like one of the favourites to bag this year's world title.

Interestingly, the King of Kings weren't even in contention for winning the MPL Indonesia title, let alone the M6 World Championship, earlier this year.

At the start of 2024, RRQ Hoshi recruited M5 World Championship-winning coach Vrendon "Vren" Pesebre as their head coach, fresh from his glorious victory. Anticipation was high for the coach as the Kings struggled to win MPL Indonesia in 2023, where they finished fourth twice. In December 2023, they also recruited John “Irrad” Abarquez and Borris James “Brusko” Parro to bolster their ranks.

However, that move didn't work out for RRQ Hoshi as they only recorded a 5th-6th place finish in MPL Indonesia Season 13. Furthermore, tension was high between Vren and one of their content creators as they demanded the world champion coach to prove his quality. At the end of the season, Vren left RRQ Hoshi and the rebuild project was started.

RRQ parted ways with both Irrad and Brusko, favouring an all-Indonesian lineup with the recruitment of Sutsujin and Hazle as their Junglers, and Khezcute with NMM as their coaching staff. Furthermore, they promoted three players from their academy squad, RRQ Sena: Idok, Rinz, and Dyrennn.

This time around, expectations of them weren't at an all-time high, but they were still high. They repaid their fans with a stellar performance courtesy of their solid and in-tune gameplay, orchestrated by Khezcute and NMM. They finished MPL Indonesia Season 14's Regular Season on a high note, beating regular season runner-up Team Liquid ID and cementing themselves as the league's top dogs.

In the MPL Indonesia Season 14 Playoffs, they went through the upper bracket to advance to the grand finals, beating Geek Fam ID 3-1 and Team Liquid ID 3-2 in the process. However, their journey to grasp the MPL Indonesia title again after five seasons was thwarted by the in-form Team Liquid ID, as they lost 4-3 in the grand finals.

However, for a team that wasn't in contention for winning the MPL Indonesia Season 14 at the start, it was a stellar achievement. One that could only become more impressive if they can perform well in the M6 World Championship. And there will be no better place for RRQ Hoshi to finally capture that elusive MLBB world championship than in Axiata Arena.

M6 World Championship team profiles:

The M6 World Championship will take place from November 21 to December 15 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is split into three distinct phases: the Wildcard Stage from November 21 to 24, the Swiss Stage from November 28 to December 5, and the Knockout Stage from December 7 to 15.
