The 2023 T1 LoL World Championship ring also features a 121-carat ruby centrepiece.
T1, the most successful League of Legends organisation to date, and popular South Korean jeweller David AVLN recently unveiled the 2023 championship rings for their LoL roster on Saturday (29 June), in honour of the organisation's fourth LoL Worlds victory.
T1 are considered one of the most successful esports organisations in history, winning 10 LCK Championships, two Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) titles and four LoL Worlds championships.
The South Korean powerhouse raised the Summoner’s Cup a fourth time in November 2023, after a dominant playoff run, where they decimated and eliminated all three remaining LPL teams on their way to the championship.
This win comes seven years after the organisation’s last Worlds win in 2016. This was also the fourth Worlds title for LoL GOAT Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok.
An intricate ring with a thousand diamonds
The rings were crafted in collaboration with the illustrious jeweller David AVLN, renowned for creating bespoke pieces for high-profile celebrities, including BLACKPINK's Lisa.
Details about the ring were revealed by the said company on Sunday (30 June) in a feature video released on YouTube.
“At DAVID AVLN, the beauty we strive for is crafted at the microscope level. Creating this level of detail requires a high degree of skill. It demands patience and determination much like the dedication T1 shows to achieve their victories,” Shin “David Avalon” Ye Gwon, Executive Director of Jewelry at David AVLN said in the video.
“We believe that through our collaboration with T1, DAVID AVLN will bring new trends to the jewellery market. We aspire to follow the path T1 has paved and achieve greatness together,” he added.
The rings were valued at KRW 3,900,000 for the half set (approximately $ 2823) and 7,000,000 for the full set (approximately $ 5068).
Each ring is made of silver and has a 121-carat ruby centrepiece. “The red of the ruby symbolises fire and blood. This ruby represents passion, powerful strength, and authority, perfectly embodying the spirit of T1,” David said.
Adorned around each side of the diamond are around 1,000 white diamonds ranging from 0.8mm to 1.5mm.
The design is inspired by Gwanghwamun (광화문), the historic gate that protected the royal palace.
One side of the ring has T1's logo, while the other side features the player's name, and an image of a hawk diving, symbolising the players in action. Engraved inside the ring, the scores T1 had against their opponents in the playoffs.
The most intriguing aspect is the top of the ring, which opens to reveal a traditional Korean box, symbolising protection in all directions. Inside, the names of the players, coaches, and team members from the 2023 Worlds victory are engraved.
The rings were presented to the Worlds 2023 champions and current T1 roster which includes Faker and teammates Choi “Zeus” Woo-je (Top lane), Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun (Jungle), Lee “Gumayusi” Minhyeong (Bot lane), and Ryu “Keria” Minseok (Support) on Saturday (29 June), during the T1 Home ground LCK match.
A redemptive journey
This specific T1 roster went through many challenges before they even had the chance to raise the Summoner’s Cup.
Despite debuting strong with a record-breaking win streak in Spring 2022, T1 faced many setbacks and second-place finishes, including a heart-wrenching 3-2 loss to DRX in the Worlds 2022 Finals.
In 2023, they encountered further challenges, including an early quarterfinal exit at the MSI, followed by Faker’s injury in the Summer split, which saw the team struggle in his absence.
Faker’s return, however, ignited a resurgence. T1 fought through the LCK Summer Playoffs and qualified for Worlds 2023, overcoming communication challenges and rediscovering their winning form.
At Worlds 2023, they continued to influence the meta and perfect their strategy, securing a spot in the playoffs. In the playoffs, the South Korean juggernauts defied odds and dominated, defeating all three remaining LPL teams.
They crushed JD Gaming’s hopes of completing the Golden Road in a 3-1 showdown and ended Weibo Gaming’s Cinderella run with a decisive 3-0 sweep to clinch the title.
As T1 looks to the future, these rings serve not only as a commemoration of past successes but also as a reminder of the dedication and hard work that continue to define the team.
