Everything you need to know about the upcoming LEC Summer Split.
The second stage of the 2024 League of Legends season will soon be upon us as the various major regions will be going through their Summer Split in a few days. The LPL was the first to kickstart its Summer Split a few days ago and up next will be the LEC, followed by the LCK and soon after, the LCS.
The LEC Summer Split will run through June and July with a short break for the Esports World Cup, which will see the likes of invited teams like G2 Esports and Fnatic take part. This will happen from July 4th - 7th, which will be in the middle of the LEC Summer Split playoffs. The LEC Summer Split will also feature the same 10 teams from the Spring Split with G2 Esports being the undisputed champions of the EMEA region.
LEC Summer Split - Format & Schedule
- Regular Season: June 8th - 30th
- Playoffs: July 12th - 28th
All 10 teams in the LEC will participate in the Summer Split, starting with the regular season group stage that will take place throughout the entire month of June. The regular season will be a single round-robin format where each team will play just nine matches to determine their overall standings at the end. All matches played during the regular season are best-of-one and only the top eight teams at the end will go through to the playoffs.
If you'll notice, the playoffs only begin from July 12th - 28th due to the Esports World Cup. This will mean that teams like G2 Esports and Fnatic will be given the chance to travel for the first third-party League of Legends tournament of the year. As for the playoffs, it will divide the top eight teams from the regular season into a double-elimination bracket. The first two rounds of the playoffs will be a best-of-three series while all other matches after that will be a best-of-five.
The LEC Summer Split winner will represent the region as the number one seed at Worlds 2024 later this year. They would also secure a spot in the LEC Finals 2024 alongside the teams that finished second and third as well. The dates for the LEC Finals will be determined as the Summer Split plays out.

LEC Summer Split - Teams
Of the 10 teams competing in the LEC Summer Split, all eyes will be on G2 Esports once more after its stellar showing at the Mid-Season Invitational a few months prior. Despite finishing fourth, G2 was still able to put its stamp on the international stage as they almost managed to beat T1 as well as sending home Top Esports and PSG Talon in straight sets during its lower bracket run. Having already won the Winter and Spring Splits, G2 will be eyeing a third LEC title in a row to further cement its dynasty as the best team in the EMEA region.
