Everything to know about the LEC Spring Split

The LEC Spring Split begins tomorrow and will run until the middle of April.

The LEC is back in action once more, this time with the Spring Split that starts tomorrow, March 9 until April 14 where we will see who gets to go to the Mid-Season Invitational later this year. The LEC Winter Split ended just a few weeks back that saw G2 Esports repeat its performances of last season with a second title in a row.

G2 are already guaranteed a spot at MSI 2024, which means that if they were to win the Spring Split as well, the team they beat in the grand finals will probably take over G2's play-in spot at MSI. And they will be hoping this isn't a carbon copy of last year's performances that saw them bow out in fourth in the Spring Split.

And based on the recent Winter Split performances, G2 does look like it has tougher competition on its hands this time round with the likes of Team BDS and Fnatic posing a real threat. MAD Lions KOI will be looking to take the fight to G2 once again after yet another loss to them in a grand finals.

LEC Spring Split - Format & Schedule

The regular season of the LEC Spring Split will start from March 9 - 25 in a single round-robin format. All 10 teams are placed into one group where every team will play nine best-of-ones to determine their final placements before the playoffs. Only the top eight teams in the regular season will advance to the next phase of the LEC Spring Split. Games will take place every week from Saturday to Monday with five games being played a day.

The top eight teams in the playoffs will then be divided into a double-elimination bracket with the first two rounds of matches being a best-of-three and every round thereafter will be a best-of-five. The playoffs will start on March 30 with the grand finals taking place on April 14. And not only will the winner be granted a bracket stage spot at MSI, they will also secure a spot to the LEC Finals 2024 later in the season.

LEC Spring Split - Teams

Out of the 10 teams in the LEC, only Team Heretics and GIANTX made changes to its roster in-between splits and will be heading into the Spring Split with refreshed starting line-ups. With that said, most teams have decided to remain with its same starting five given how plenty of the big names had positive performances so far. As expected, G2 will be the team to beat once again as they look to secure a 13th LEC title.

The other usual suspects will include MAD Lions KOI, Fnatic, and Team BDS who will all be looking to add silverware to its collection before going to China in May. However, the likes of SK Gaming, Team Vitality, and Heretics could also pose a challenge after decent showings during the Winter Split. They have proven they can stand against the top teams in the LEC and must now showcase it on a consistent basis.
