Hanwha Life Esports include three former Gen.G players to the roster.
Another LCK team has finalised its roster for the 2024 season as Hanwha Life Esports brought in the likes of Hyeon-joon “Doran” Choi, Wang-Ho “Peanut” Han, and Hwan-joong “Delight” Yoo to the squad. All three are experienced LCK players who have been in the scene for some time now who also played for Gen.G this season.
However, Peanut would boast the most qualified resume having performed exceptionally well in both the LCK and the LPL. Peanut has also played for numerous top teams in the past that include T1, LGD Gaming, and Nongshim RedForce. As for Doran and Delight, they also made the move over to HLE alongside Peanut after a season where they won both the Spring and Summer Split titles.
But even though Gen.G was the strongest LCK team for the 2023 season, they could not replicate its undisputed regional form to the international stage. In both the LCK Spring and Summer Split grand finals, Gen.G was able to defeat T1 in a best-of-five setting twice but at the same time, could not get past Bilibili Gaming at both the Mid-Season Invitational and Worlds 2023.
As for HLE, their season followed a slightly similar path as Gen.G as they lost to KT Rolster twice in both the spring and summer splits while also losing to Dplus KIA in the LCK regional finals. For an organisation that invested heavily in the likes of Worlds 2021 and 2022 champions Park “Viper” Do-hyeon and Geon-woo “Zeka” Kim, it still has yet to bear the fruits of its labour after a full season. And with HLE's continued investment into rebuilding the squad around its core players, they finally look like a championship-winning team on paper.
Both Viper and Zeka already knows what it's like to lift the Summoner's Cup whilst the likes of Peanut, Doran, and Delight have plenty of experience when it comes to dominating the LCK. Now it's down to all five players to find the right composition and chemistry in order to be successful.
