T1 retain its championship-winning roster for another season

T1 are not going anywhere.

It has been confirmed via T1's official X account that it has retained its Worlds 2023 championship-winning roster for the upcoming new season. This means that the Finals MVP of Worlds 2023, Choi “Zeus” Woo-je will still be playing under the T1 banner alongside the bottom-lane duo of Ryu “Keria” Min-seok and Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong.

And joining the reigning champions will be the return of Kim kkOma Jeong-gyun, who was also T1's coach during its dominant years from 2012 to 2017. He will be moving into the head coach role whilst Im “Tom” Jae-hyeon has resigned with T1 and will be moved into a coaching position.

While the news of T1 keeping its roster intact was great news, the return of kkOma back into the fold sent the fanbase into meltdown. As many will remember, kkOma is regarded as arguably the best League of Legends coach as it was under his guidance that T1 managed to win Worlds back in 2013, 2015, and 2016 as well as two Mid-Season Invitational titles. He was also part of the Dplus KIA squad back in 2021 (when it was known as DAMWON Gaming) and won both the LCK Spring and Summer Split titles but fell short at Worlds and MSI with back-to-back second-place finishes.

Most recently, he was also the coach for Team South Korea at the 2022 Asian Games where they came home with the gold medal. With T1 keeping its roster together, this will be the third year in a row that all five members will be playing together. This will be the first time since 2013 that T1 has kept its championship-winning roster together.

All five players also hold the record for having the current longest streak of roster consistency on the international stage. Since the start of MSI last year, they have played 71 games togetherthe most out of any team around the world. The closest was G2 Esports during the 2021 season as they went 50 games.
